King officially opt's in for 1 more season with the Cubs hoping to break the now 151 years and counting streak since their last championship.
Powers hits the market as a 34yr old 1B, soon to be 35, but with an MVP pedigree and at least 3 more solid seasons left in him asking for 23.33 per year. |

It is very tempting to go join the Mets but they already have a very good First Baseman.
Powers will stick to joining the 107 win Giants and hope he is the missing piece to help them beat the Mets. |

In coaching news, Jack King called it a career at age 64 after a tough year with the Marlins and oddly not a lot of interest from other clubs after he turned the Marlins around from a losing club to a division contender.

Tough to see Jack King not get any offers after taking a 100 loss Miami team to 7 games out of the playoffs in two years. Wish he stuck around for a little longer so Alex could try to play for his dad.
