2299 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Nordhagen Beach vs Fort Hagen

After looking at some of my old dynasties, I have sudden paranoia that all my images will disappear again. Then this dynasty has a whole lot of blank history!

Association Championships - Game 2

Story and Box Score

Angelou Walks Off Silver Shroud

Trailing 8-6 heading to the bottom of the 9th, it appeared the NCA Championships Game 2 was going to end with a series tie. Instead, thanks to the big bat of Jonathan Angelou, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys walked away with a 9-8 win and a 2-0 series lead.

With Curtis Thriceshot on the mound to close the game out, Brian Masterson and Game MVP Michael Fogcrawler led off with singles to put the tying runs on base. Angelou then stepped up and on a 1-2 pitch, he blasted the ball over the left field fence at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, giving the Boys the walk-off win.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Angelou said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

Trailing 6-2 entering the top of the 7th, Fort Hagen got a big inning to take the lead. Starter Chet Arthur started the inning but exited in favor of David Kidd after allowing a single to Mark Miller. Bixton Moore then doubled in Miller to cut the lead to 6-3. With one out, Micah Morals singled and then Safety Langer tripled in two to cut the game to 6-5. Well Done Dungan then reached on a Pointie Shroud error, scoring Langer and tying the game. With two outs, Jim Tiller doubled in Dungan, chasing Kidd. Ben Pawlak then hit an RBI single off Night Demon Archaki to make the game 8-6.

Fogcrawler earned the Game MVP by going 3 for 5 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Angelou finished 2 for 5 with the home run, a run, and three RBI. Ryan Combs hit his first home run of the post season in the 2nd inning. For the Silver Shroud, all three of their extra-base hits came in the six-run 7th inning.

Sia Abber (1-0) earned the win for Nordhagen Beach after pitching a scoreless 9th inning. Thriceshot (0-2) blew his second save in the series and his third in the playoffs to suffer the loss. The Boys' Arthur allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits with four strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched. Fort Hagen's Brent Hooker was chased early after allowing six earned runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout in 3.0 innings.

The next game is set to be played Sunday at Fort Hagen. The scheduled starters for the game are Julian Shed for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and Derek Green for the the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud.

Boston Minor Series - Game 2

Box Score and Story

Snipers Clip Raybathers 6-5 in BMS Contest

In a crucial game, the Trinity Plaza Snipers put on their best show, beating the Mystic Pines Raybathers by a final score of 6-5 today. Justin Sphinx threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Trinity Plaza and Mystic Pines are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-5 affair.

Trinity Plaza used the timely hitting of Rock Hard to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Snipers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Hard said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Memory Den Field. Slated to start are Roy Lach for the Mystic Pines Raybathers and Catchy Clintock for the the Trinity Plaza Snipers.

2299 - CBO Playoffs - SCA: Goodneighbor vs Diamond City

Association Championships - Game 3

Story and Box Score

Fusion Fuels Swatters Win, Take 2-1 Lead

With starter Tim Fusion leading the charge, the Diamond City Swatters defeated the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 3-2, in Game 3 of the Association Championships today. The left-hander (3-0 in the postseason) threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs at The Great Green Jewel to help Diamond City take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Fusion led the game 1-0 going into the 7th inning, but then some hell broke loose. Goodneighbor finally got on the board thanks to Fusion starting to tire. Zachary Utsinger led off the inning with a single and advanced on a wild pitch. Fusion then walked Jason Juras. After Splotch Pollack's bunt attempt resulted in a 3-5 fielder's choice, pinch hitter Tyler Jelinski singled to load the bases with one out. Good Don Duck then hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Burtie Cuttooth followed with a sacrifice fly to score Pollock for the 2-1 lead.

Fearing the same may happen to starter Matt Pageturner, Goodneighbor manager Jeremy Whiteplate replaced him with Bryan Punchline who proved to be the joke. Tyler Ross led off with a single. With one out, Nick Minnier singled. Jim Synthseeker then reached on a fielder's choice, placing runners at first and third with two outs. Witcher Craft then came through with an RBI single to tie the game, 2-2. Allen Bishop then delivered a key base hit with two down and runners on first and second, scoring Synthseeker. That made the score 3-2, the final, in favor of the Swatters.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Whiteplate. "This is a game we had a chance to win and needed to win. We need to put this series back in our favor to make it back home."

The game was definitely a pitcher's affair. Diamond City's Wally Warwick's 2nd-inning double proved to be the game's only extra-base hit. He later scored the game's first run on an RBI fielder's choice by Danny Suarez.

"This was a game I had to be on every inning," Fusion said. "I had a bad 7th, but our bats got it done when we needed it most. Hats off to Allen and the gang."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Quincy Eloquent for Goodneighbor and X10-44 Mannson for Diamond City.

2299 - CBO Playoffs - SCA: Goodneighbor vs Diamond City

Association Championships - Game 4

Story and Box Score

Mannson Handcuffs Hancocks, Swatters Lead 3-1

The Diamond City Swatters moved to within one game of the Sole Survivor Series today, downing the visiting Goodneighbor Hancocks at The Great Green Jewel by a score of 2-1. Swatters left-hander X10-44 Mannson had a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Swatters a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Association Championships.

Mannson allowed 1 run over 7 innings. He also racked up 10 strikeouts.

"It's a mindset," said Mannson. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent. I almost feel like I'm programmed to succeed."

Quincy Eloquent (0-2 in the series) pitched well, but did not receive the support he needed. In 7.0 innings, he allowed two runs, one earned, on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout. All eight Diamond City hits were singles, including three by Allen Bishop and two by Witcher Craft. Craft and Nick Minnier each had RBIs in the game.

The Swatters' first run came on one of Goodneighbor Splotch Pollock's two errors in the game. Tyler Ross singled to lead off the bottom of the 2nd. When he attempted to steal with one out, Pollock threw the ball into center field, allowing Ross to move to third. Minnier then hit a sacrifice fly to score Ross for the 1-0 lead.

Goodneighbor's sole run came in the top of the 5th. John Rose walked to start the inning and moved to second on Jumper Hayes' single. After Zachary Utsinger moved both players over on a sacrifice bunt, Jason Juras hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game, 1-1.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel. Slated to start are John Oldsink for Goodneighbor and Blaine Phrasemaker for Diamond City.

Association Championships - Game 3

Story and Box Score

Fort Hagen Breaks Through for First Win in ACS

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, winning 3-1 at Hubris Comics Park today. Silver Shroud left-hander Derek Green threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Silver Shroud to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Association Championships.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Green told WRVR's Charles River Trio after the game. Anne Hargraves gave Green 5 out of 5 tush slaps for his performance.

Micah Morals, the Fort Hagen third baseman, contributed a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 3-1, Silver Shroud. For the game, Morals went 2-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in all three runs.

Nordhagen Beach had an early 1-0 lead thanks to Dustin Mart's solo home run to lead off the 2nd inning. However, the Shroud answered in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Mark Miller singled and then Morals hit an RBI triple to tie the game, 1-1.

In addition to Morals' multiple-hit day, Fort Hagen's Well Done Dungan and Jim Tiller and the Boys' Pointie Shroud all also had two hits. Dungan and Tiller each had a single and double.

Julian Shed (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with six walks and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Fort Hagen's Matt Demented got the save opportunity, pitching a perfect 9th inning.

The win gives the Raybathers a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Boston Minor Series.

2299 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Nordhagen Beach vs Fort Hagen

Association Championships - Game 4

Story and Box Score

Silver Shroud Even With Party Boys After Walk-Off

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud got a strong six innings from starter Mike Cartrette, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Silver Shroud took the 6-5 win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys in Game 4 of the Association Championships in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Cartrette in the first six innings when he gave up only one earned run. Unfortunately, a poor 7th inning chased him with four earned runs allowed. Cartrette threw six innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which brought the Silver Shroud into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Bixton Moore was the walk-off hero for Fort Hagen. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Silver Shroud catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home. Andrew Nuka also had a big hit with a three-run home run in the bottom of the 7th to give the Shroud a 5-4 lead at the time.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen.

Despite pitching an even better game, Nordhagen Beach starter Tommy Beach had a no decision in 6.0 innings pitched with five hits and two earned runs allowed with a walk and three strikeouts. David Drfitwood hit a two-run homer off him in the 2nd. Tom Mannequin suffered the loss after giving up the 9th-inning run.

The Party Boys took their first lead of the game in the top of the 7th. Trailing 2-1, Ryan Combs and Mike Swift both walked to start the inning before pinch hitter Clux Oldstreet knocked them both in on a two-RBI double. With one out and Radscorpion Johnson pitching for Cartrette, Brian Masterson hit an RBI single for the 4-2 lead.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park. Slated to start are Derek Gist for Nordhagen Beach and Brent Hooker for Fort Hagen.

Game MVP - BNN Pick

Game MVP - Publick Occurrences Pick

This was a tough one, but the Game MVP has to be determined by the entire game, not just the good times. Cartrette allowed four earned runs, which is not indicative of an MVP performance. We picked another.

Assman, Hancocks Wallop Swatters in Game 5 of ACS

The Goodneighbor Hancocks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Diamond City Swatters, winning 11-2 at The Great Green Jewel today. The win cuts the deficit facing the Hancocks to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Association Championships.

In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Assman hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.

Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Silver Shroud, 7-3

Nuka had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the first for the Silver Shroud. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Fort Hagen trailing 1-0, he hit a 3-run home run. He finished the game 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, two runs, and three RBI.

Nuka said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

2299 - CBO Playoffs - SCA: Goodneighbor vs Diamond City

Association Championships - Game 6

Story and Box Score

Swatters Cream Hancoks, On to Sole Survivor Series

The championship aspirations of the Diamond City Swatters are still alive and well, while the Goodneighbor Hancocks are left to wait until next year.

Diamond City won the clinching game of the Association Championships 12-0 over Goodneighbor at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS, to win the series 4-2.

"You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said left fielder Tyler Ross, who paced the Diamond City offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit."

Ross claimed the MVP by racking up 9 hits for a .409 average, with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 5 runs. In Game 6, he was 4 for 6 with two doubles, a home run, two runs, six RBI, and a stolen base.

Ross' performance outshined another outstanding performance, his teammate's pitching. Tim Fusion threw a complete-game three-hitter, all singles, in the shutout win. He walked one and struck out seven.

Four other Swatters also had multiple hits in the shellacking of Matt Pageturner (1-1) and the Goodneighbor bullpen. Wayne Lacy had the best numbers of those four, going 2 for 4 with a home run, a walk, two runs, and two RBI.

The scoring onslaught began in the top of the 2nd. Wally Warwick began with a double and Ross hit a two-run bomb, which proved to be the game-winning hit. Nick Minnier followed with a single and Fusion bunted him to second. After Witcher Craft singled, Allen Bishop hit into an RBI groundout to make the score 3-0 with two outs. Pageturner balked to score the fourth run, and then Lacy hit his homer for the 6-0 lead. Diamond City added three runs apiece in the 4th and 6th innings for the 12-0 count.

The Diamond City Swatters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud series. Fort Hagen leads the series 3 games to 2. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championships finish.

The Party Boys will need to find their offense if they have any hopes of winning this series, I would think. Their pitching is good, but they win a lot when they score a lot of runs. They got 1-5-3 in Fort Hagen. Derek Green gets the start again in Game 6 for the Shroud versus Julian Shed.

The Mystic Pines Raybathers were good enough to get past the Trinity Plaza Snipers at Wattz Park today and secure the 1st championship in franchise history.

"When you wear Raybathers on your shirt, you're good at something," Mystic Pines skipper Justin Chops told the press.

Raybathers second baseman David Braun was named MVP of the series after he went .455 with 1 home run and 2 RBI. In Game 5, Braun also set a CA playoff record by going 2 for 3 with a record two triples. He walked once and scored twice.

"It feels totally incredible," Braun said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."

The new champions capped off a great season with a 7-1 victory over the Snipers to win the Boston Minor Series 3-2.

Justin Sphinx claimed the Game MVP honors after he allowed just one earned run on six hits with two walks and a Commonwealth Association record 12 strikeouts in 7.2 innings.

2299 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Nordhagen Beach vs Fort Hagen

Association Championships - Game 6

Story and Box Score

Pitcher's Duel Ends in Walk-Off, Extra-Inning Win

In a crucial game, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys put on their best show, beating the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud by a final score of 2-0 today in 10 innings. Julian Shed threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Nordhagen Beach and Fort Hagen are now tied at 3 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.

Nordhagen Beach won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Curtis Thriceshot on the mound for Fort Hagen, second baseman Brian Masterson hit a dramatic 2-out, 2-run home run, bringing Party Boys fans to their feet.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Nordhagen Beach manager Craig Robinson. "Now we need to get the next one."

Hits were hard to come by in the 62-out match with the Shroud managing four and the Boys getting seven. Masterson was the best of all batters, going 2 for 5 with a triple and the game-winning walk-off. Mark Miller (double) and Ben Pawlak (triple) had Fort Hagen's only extra-base hits.

BNN named Shed as the Game MVP by allowing just three hits, walking two, and striking out nine. However, the Shroud's Derek Green was even better. In 8.2 innings, he allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out 10.

Tom Mannequin (2-1) picked up the win, allowing just one hit, walking one, and striking out three in 3.0 innings. Thriceshot (0-3) had another poor outing in the playoffs, allowing two runs on two hits with a walk in just 1.0 innings.

Game 7 is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Mike Cartrette for Fort Hagen and Tommy Beach for Nordhagen Beach.

Both starting pitchers pitched great but neither factored into the final decision. With his seven total bases, including the game-winning homer, Masterson deserves recognition.

That was a great one to win! As you said, the pitching has been strong for the Boys, but they need to get the runs across to seal the Wins. Hope they have the impetus to carry them forward now.
