Eastlake's Gala Accepts Position at Fallon's

Eastlake Aquaboys RF Jonah Gala (FHE) decided today that his future is not in baseball, but management at Fallon's Department Store. Today, the 29-year-old decided he would prefer to be a department manager, announcing his retirement.

Easy Town on High Alert after Near-Miss

Easy Town is on high alert after Easy Town Assaultrons SS Matt Stoops' fiancee, Passion Spots, was attacked while on a midnight jog. She was able to escape with minor injuries.

Local police units and Brotherhood patrols have been on alert in recent months. Easy Town had already experienced a murder situation when hitting coach Kyle Verrecchio's wife, Kay Adams-Verrecchio was found murdered earlier this year.

Easy Town mayor Kay Merchant had this to say: "We have a serial killer on the loose. We have been trying to keep it secret, but it is time for all of Easy Town to know that we have five dead women in the last 16 months. Thankfully the young woman Passion escaped being number six. But we need to shut down the town and find him. It's time. No one is leaving Easy Town as of today, visitor, citizen, or soldier."

Interesting that all the games so far have been won on the road. Wonder if that will continue back in Diamond City?

Oh man, I'm back. New job has been really keeping me beat, but it'll get better. I feel like since I've been the one pulling for both the Swatters and the Shroud it would have been a travesty for me to have missed the entity of this series! Glad my two favorites could have made it in the end!

2299 - CBO Playoffs - Sole Survivor Series: Diamond City vs Fort Hagen

Sole Survivor Series - Game 6

Story and Box Score

Diamond City Swatters Capture Sole Survivor Series

It was all about winning for the Diamond City Swatters -- and win they did.

There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball.

"We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said third baseman Allen Bishop, who was named Series MVP. "Now we're the league champions."

Diamond City defeated the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud by a score of 6-1 at The Great Green Jewel to take the series 4-2.

Swatters' pitcher Tyler Powers earned Game MVP honors after he allowed one earned run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Diamond City took an early lead on Fort Hagen pitcher Mike Cartrette. Witcher Craft was plunked on Cartrette's first pitch and Bishop doubled to put runners at second and third. Oren Gep then hit a two-run single to make it 2-0. Gep stole second and advanced to third on a ground out, allowing him to score on Wayne Lacy's sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. The lead was extended to 4-0 when Bishop hit a 3rd-inning home run. He finished 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, two runs, and an RBI to lead the Swatters offense. Lacy added a solo home run in the 8th for the Swatters' last run of the series.

The Silver Shroud's sole run came in the top of the 5th. With one out, Bixton Moore tripled and then scored on David Driftwood's double. Six different Shroud players each had a hit.

"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Diamond City manager Bucky Bachelor. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played."

Oh man, and I got back just in time it looks like! As much as I like the Shroud, as I've said before, the universe just wouldn't be right if the Swatters didn't win this thing at least once. I'd say they have a great arc of being crap to taking it all, but given the Shroud weren't too hot the first two seasons that would have actually gone for whoever won this year.

Though they did not go 7, it was still a classic series! It looked like the Swatters were the team to beat all season since they had a solid grasp in the early season on the top of the Power Rankings. It seemed to be there year, and they made it happen.

Dall Bounced, No Longer County Crossing GM

There was absolutely no sense of shock today in County Crossing when the team announced the firing of GM Dan Dall. After a disappointing season the team gave Dall the boot and hasn't named a replacement.

No Future Here, Dismissed by County Crossing

Few players in the County Crossing Bloodbugs organization seemed upset to learn about Biff Future's dismissal as manager, a move announced today in a team press release.

While no player would speak on the record, one disgruntled reliever complained about Future's confrontational style, saying "He's the kind of guy who thinks the best leader is the guy who yells the most."

Another added, "Biff wanted to win, but he just didn't have the respect of the clubhouse."

Future's replacement has not yet been named, though an official announcement is expected soon.

You're Out! Assaultrons Fire GM Herner

The Ryan Herner era is over in Easy Town.

The Easy Town Assaultrons ownership today announced they have terminated the contracts of the 39-year-old general manager.

"We'd like to thank Ryan Herner for his time with the club," the club said in a prepared statement.

GM Wolf, Knuckle Punchers Go Separate Ways

Kyle Wolf has lost his job as the general manager of the Roxbury Knuckle Punchers, but says he has no regrets.

"If I had to do it all over again, I think I'd make the same moves and go about this job the same way," the 61-year-old said. "Sometimes things just don't go your way - life is tough."

Nordhagen Beach's Craig Robinson Retires

Nordhagen Beach Party Boys manager Craig Robinson has decided to call it quits. The 62-year-old said that he was ready to experience life indoors, applying for residency at the three functioning vaults and the Boston Mayoral Shelter.

"It's time, and I am tired of breathing all these rads every day," Robinson said. "I lived in a vault before, and I want to live in one again. I want to know what it feels like for my lungs not to burn."

Robinson headed a successful three-year stint with the Party Boys, taking them to the playoffs all three seasons, including an appearance in the Sole Survivor Series in 2297. He finishes with a 168-109 career record and two Brotherhood League titles.

Other personnel retirements:

The Slog Ghouls: PC Bill Pilewski retires.
Easy Town Assaultrons: PC Saturday Maddox retires.
Starlight Lady Killers: MA Crow Monitor retires.
MA Ben Stoudt retires.

BMU - Chops Captures CA Award for Best Manager

Manager Justin Chops was speaking before a Mystic Pines fan luncheon when word came down that he'd been awarded the Commonwealth Association Manager of the Year. Chops's face turned to surprise as the club's owner made the hasty announcement.

"Wow... how lucky can a guy be? Manage a great bunch of guys... have great fans... have a great season... and now this... life don't get any better than this."

Mystic Pines fans applauded, recognizing how fortunate they were to have Chops at the helm. Both fans and players in attendance toasted their skipper as they truly enjoyed the day.

2299 was an extra-special season for Chops as he piloted the Mystic Pines Raybathers to a 52-24 record and a first place spot in the Commonwealth Association Cambridge League standings. A record good enough to win the 2299 Manager of the Year Award.

BMU - Snipers Pilot Pinkerton Picked as MA's Best

The Trinity Plaza Snipers called a press conference to announce that field manager Bill Pinkerton had been named Massachusetts Association Manager of the Year earlier in the day. Staffers congratulated the 38-year-old baseball guru as he approached the podium.

"This city has allowed me to craft a winning ball club," said Pinkerton. "When you take on a new job, there's always some adjustment period, but everyone here has been cooperative. From the bat boys on up. Here's to many more successful seasons for the Trinity Plaza Snipers!"

Pinkerton led Trinity Plaza to a 48-28 record this year and a first place finish in the Massachusetts Association Downtown Boston League.

Atom Trades Jumping for Concord's Erb, Journeyman

The Atom Cats announced a deal with the Radstags today, sending 27-year-old RHP Jason Jumping to Concord for 20-year-old minor league C Don Erb and 20-year-old minor league 2B Mo Journeyman. It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly.

Diamond City-Finch Farm Trade: Phrasemaker for Grime

Diamond City and Finch Farm have swapped players. The Swatters announced today that they have sent 35-year-old minor league RHP Blaine Phrasemaker to the Four Leafs in exchange for 25-year-old LF Cody Grime.

Phrasemaker has a lifetime record of 12 wins and 28 losses and a 5.44 ERA.

Grime has played in 126 games with a .329 career batting average and 51 hits. He also has scored 17 runs and driven in 18 runs with no home runs.

Goodneighbor Hancocks Ship Paula to Sunshine Tidings via Salem

The rumor has been out there for a while now and today it was made official. The Goodneighbor Hancocks have sent 33-year-old RHP Bus Paula to the Salem Witch Hats for 20-year-old RHP Justin Wilkerson and 20-year-old minor league 1B Kasey Sloc. The Hats then came to an agreement to deal Paula and 21-year-old minor league C Pigeye Hutchinson to the Sunshine Tidings Chemists for 22-year-old RHP Rafe Sauce and 20-year-old minor league 2B Tripp Park earlier today.

During his career Paula has been credited with 47 saves, while compiling a 3-10 won-lost mark. He has appeared in 93 games, thrown 91.2 innings, and struck out 125.

A look at Wilkerson's career stats shows he has no saves with a 3-2 record and a 3.43 ERA.

Oberland, Sunshine Tidings Agree to Trade

Oberland and Sunshine Tidings have agreed in principle to a trade. The T-51s will send 34-year-old minor league RHP Brian Dingo to the Chemists for 19-year-old minor league RHP Neil Persian. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.

In his 44-game career Dingo has been credited with 5 wins, 2 losses and 1 saves. His ERA stands at 2.04, and he has fired third strikes past 60 batters in 61.2 innings while giving up 21 walks.

As you say, it was a really good series, with the wins on the road, then the Swatters sealing the deal. Worthy winners, I think.
Nice to see young Lannie at the top of the Prospects list - hoping for a breakout year next time around.
Another great season, StLee - thanks again!!

I'm going to try to power through with as productive summer as possible! Thank you for reading!

For L'il Lannie, I think it's his time to shine. I have him in a random pool to see how Easy Town is either going to work him into the CBO in 2300 or help the Assaultrons strengthen their CBO team. We'll see what they decide, but something is going to happen in 2300 for that guy. He's past due, and I have not figured out how to force him up!

Roxbury Holding onto Secret

The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers organization has been working on a secret project at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in the last week, refusing to reveal what the remodeling project is about.

The stadium's inside area has been locked and blocked, guarded by security for team owner Arlen Glass. The outside entrance banner has also been covered, making some speculate big changes to come.

Currently, the General Manager position is unfilled for the Knuckle Punchers after Glass fired GM Kyle Wolf. In three seasons, the Knuckle Punchers have gone from a .500 team to winning just 29 of 108 games in 2298 and 39 in 2299.

All contact with the Roxbury team has gone to the owner's office, where their official comment is "No ****ing comment. You'll know when we tell you."

Lexington-Goodneighbor Trade: Browneye for Jelinski

Lexington and Goodneighbor made a trade today. In this move, the Synths shipped 22-year-old C Justin Browneye, 22-year-old minor league RHP Danny Callan and a 5th round draft pick to the Hancocks for 22-year-old SS Tyler Jelinski, 21-year-old minor league CF Rocky Story, 21-year-old C Stephen Brewster and a 4th round draft pick. The Lexington GM told reporters, "I think this trade is beneficial to everyone involved, including the players."

Quincy Gunners Ship Williams to County Crossing

30-year-old RHP Freedom Williams will now be playing for the County Crossing Bloodbugs and 22-year-old minor league RHP Walt Barbed and 20-year-old minor league CF Bumper Robinson will be suiting up for the Quincy Gunners. The trade was announced today at a press conference by club officials.

Since Williams came into the league, he has produced these numbers: In 67.2 innings, he has struck out 89, walked 25 and saved 14 games while compiling a 6-2 record and a 2.39 ERA.

Atom Trades McMillen for Starlight's Bullets

It has been in the rumor mill for several weeks, but today team officials for Atom and Starlight confirmed an agreement. The Cats dealt 21-year-old 2B Ray McMillen and 19-year-old minor league LF Chris McCreight to the Lady Killers for 31-year-old 2B Alec Bullets and a 2nd round draft pick.

McMillen's career batting average stands at .288, and he has 14 home runs.

Bullets has 249 career hits with a .308 batting average and 16 home runs.

Roxbury Announces Josh Halcomb as GM

The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers pulled a general manager from the Boston Youth Development League when they hired 42-year-old Josh Halcomb from the BYDL talent department.

He is described as someone who loves a young team with lots of bats. Asked about the big secret in Roxbury, he said, "It's my first day on the job. I don't even know the secret."

Party Boys Get Their Man: Getman

Just like Roxbury pulling their GM from the BYDL, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys went fishing for young talent in replacing retired manager Craig Robinson. Their answer was to hire 35-year-old Matt "Ballhawk" Getman, manager of the 2299 BYDL champions, the Beerthirty Sippers.

The Sippers went an impressive 35-15 on the season, defeating the three-time defending champions, the North Charles Bank Goonies in the BYDL finals. It was Getman's first championship in six years at Beerthirty.

He brings a balanced approach to talent to the Party Boys, stating he would like a mix of younger and older players, though he is excited how close in age many Boys' stars are to his former team. He loves a team with a good offense, looking to get players on base and move them through aggressive baserunning. For pitching, he said his job is to allow his starters to lead the team and use relievers only when the starters are too tired to keep going.

University Point Reveals New Logo, Uniforms

The University Point Deathclaws revealed today that their 2300 team will look quite different. Holding a local event hosted by Mayor Heather Casden, two of the Deathclaws top picks modeled the new uniforms. Locals used adjectives like "pops" and started calling the team the "Fightin' Claws" based on their change.

"We're excited about what this team will bring to our settlement," Casden said. "We're hoping this new look will make a huge difference in our success. For marketing, it will be a certain boon."
