Sorry about that. I'm out of ideas as to where you might find a photo of Bill Davis.

Can't get you to the exact high school, but I found a newspaper article indicating that on June 7, 1972 he was from Knoxville, Tennessee when the Reds drafted him. So it's likely that he attended a Knoxville high school.

THANKS Cusick for the correct info. Here is Billy Davis from 1972 & 1971 Central High School Knoxville Tennessee. Baseball-Reference had the wrong High School listed.

Trying to fill out the 1978 minor league rosters with proper photos....the Alexandria Dukes will be tough....But, i figured Ray Boyer would be easier to find since he played AAA with Boston....But, they did not make minor league cards of Pawtucket until the year after he played...Would love photos of anyone on that 1978 Alexandria Dukes team...But, Ray Boyer would be a solid start....

Unknown Colt 45.

Found this photo a few years back Don't know source or site. Does anyone know who this colt 45 is? it was listed as Griffin. Did not see any name of Griffin listed on any source related to the 45's.

That would be "Big John" Griffin, a catcher the Colts purchased from the Orioles prior to the 1964 season. Not sure how he ended up back with Rochester that year and then back to the Houston system in '65 (and '67). But here's his listing in the 1964 Colts yearbook...right above Jerry Grote.

Bill Whittaker

Pitcher Robert William "Bill" Whittaker makes for an interesting case. He had some successful seasons in the minor leagues, despite having the physical handicap of playing with only one eye. (I can't tell you which one). In 1920, he had a 24-6 record with a 2.21 ERA for the Texas League Fort Worth Panthers. On September 13 of that year, he was sold to the Boston Red Sox, with the intent that he would be brought to the Red Sox spring training camp the following year for an evaluation to see if he could make the 1921 team. However, around February 1, 1921, the Red Sox sent him back to Fort Worth, where he had another fine year.

The photo is from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram of August 14, 1920, and shows him in a Panthers uniform.

Ray Dabek

Ray was a catcher on the 1962 Modesto Colts team. He was a long-time minor-league backstop. After his playing career ended, he spent one year managing in the minors and a number of years as a minor league coach.

The photo shows him as a member of the 1956 Dallas Eagles.
