Looking at the scouting history for last year's 1st round pick, and current Birmingham SP Angeli ... and man did his stock drop in the eye's of our head scout or what? OSA still has him as a future anchor of a rotation, BIR scout has him as a spot starter, long relief type. Wow, that could be a plan changer.

Another winning week sees the Boars remain in 1st place, which is still quite a surprise in the division. Carolina suffers a major injury to SS Eric Adams and he'll be out for 4-5 weeks.

Heavy favorite, Gotham, finds themselves already 4.5 GB of surprising leader, Baltimore.

Indiana rides the production of their Big 3 (Briseno, Wiggins, and Lopez) and a very good bullpen to the top of the GL division.

The biggest surprise of the season, so far, is the Birmingham Boars, 7th in RS, and 3rd in RA. The Boars have an incredible 10-2 record in 1-Run games, with 9 comeback wins.

Seitler and Durnell lead the East's top scoring offense to first place .... the only division favorite to actually be in first place at the end of 4 weeks of baseball.

Comeau and Roy get out to amazing starts on the mound for surprising 1st place Salt Lake.

Defending champs, and owners of this division, San Diego, prove the experts' doubt wrong, being in first place.

Oklahoma's "Five Aces" starting rotation (all 5 in the preseason top 10 SP) fulfills most of their potential, being 3rd in RA, to along with a dominant bullpen led by last year's Reliever of the Year, Gene Dunphy.

Carlos Sardina leads the best starting rotation in the west (so far) to first place, with Guadalajara breathing down their necks.

Tristan Seitler is off to an amazing start, leading the league in major categories and being the frontrunner for MVP, with a healthy Elly De La Cruz and Willie Briseno in the hunt.

Birmingham's Dave Roberson leads the league in RS and is 2nd in SB.

St Louis CF Jackson Merrill is off to a great comeback season, leading the West in WAR.

Birmingham reliever, David Heronemus, stuns the East, leading in wins with 5. Masahiro Takiuchi finds himself on the leaderboard in WAR and lowest walk rate.

Oklahoma is gaining a reputation as a pitching factory, with 5 very good SP, and former closer Ian Short (now with GUA) and current closer Dunphy among the leaders in saves.

An outstanding 1st month of the season leads to Birmingham on top of the division.

7th in RS, 2nd in RA. Awesome, however the team is likely playing far above their heads so far.

4 for 4 in "winning weeks" during the first month, including an incredible 9 comeback wins, and a 10-2 record in 1-run games.

Fan interest creeping up slowly, 13th in attendance is a good mark for us.

On pace to meet both owner goals for 2036.

Minor league system is fine for where we're at, at this point. We're spending a lot of development and not really seeing the development we expected.

C Andy Dahl is forcing the playing time issue with recent FA signing Quero (40/2).

Sharp and O'Neal are producing great at 1B.

Zachary Kortz is struggling in his sophomore season at 2B. Last year's breakout player (I suppose along with Matt Baker), just isn't keeping the development going.

3B Jason Maddox is also struggling compared to his production last year.

SS Jacob Lombard has been a surprise. The glove first SS has hit the ball well enough to produce higher than expected.

LF Matt Baker is struggling mightily, he was a force last year in the leadoff spot, forming a dynamic due with Dave Roberson, leading to a lot of runners for the middle of the order.

David Castro and Jon Curd are making their case to earn a starting position, in conjunction with Baker's struggles.

CF Anthony Pack Jr provided his usual excellent defense, but the bat is below expectations.

RF Elijah Beverly has been a welcome addition, he's producing as expected, replacing the lone All-Star Nick Calloway, but for a cheaper contract.

SP Mike Melchor has pitched well, and going with the theme of last year, he does not see the rewards in the W-L column.

SP Masahiro Takiuchi continues to find success by not allowing walks, suppressing home runs, and getting batters to drill the ball into the ground.

SP Fred Steward had an excellent month, despite pitching in and out of trouble. His walk rate is troubling, but he's gotten away with it by not allowing a single HR in the month. That's not sustainable.

SP Dave Angeli also had a good first month to his career, again despite the high walks. He's kept the ball on the ground, which has helped him get out of most jams. Time will tell if this is legit or smoke and mirrors.

SP Javier M Martinez Jr is not showing any development, despite the high potential. He's pitching very similarly to last year, which means he's barely hanging on to the 5th starter role.

ST David Heronemus has been the surprising performance of the season, so far. Injured all of last year, and not really having the stamina to start, he's thrived inthe stopper role ... racking up a 5-1 record (and leading the East in pitcher wins), and has pitched well.

CL Gauer has pitched well in his 6 saves. A key for Gauer has been the 0 HRA in 9 IP.

RP Dustin Chandler - if he's not in a jam, he'll pitch his way into one, but so far has pitched his way out of them. Not likely sustainable. Like some others, he's pitching to keep his ML role.

ST Ross Stevens has been pretty solid, and the team needs him to be a dominant bullpen force, particularly vs LHBs.

RP Mario De La Cruz has been a solid long relief piece. He's not dominant, but he's solid enough.

ST Tony Harris has been a mixed bag. The MVO of last year's bullpen is dominant when he's not allowing the longball, but he's been allowing the longball ... 3 HRA in 9 games. He cannot do that.

The Boars suffered their first losing week of the season, and they did it in classic Birmingham fashion ... losing all 6 games, all on the road.

G28 - @ NYN, both SP had no hitters going through 5 innings. SP Fred Steward fell apart in the 6th, allowing 4 ER. ST David Heronemus joined in one the fun, allowing 2 ER in his 1.2 IP, only to be outdone by MR Dustin Chandler who allowed a HR in his 1 inning of work. With the bases loaded, Steward walked in the go ahead run, and the next batter plated another run on CI, that's how the inning went, and it turned quickly. At the plate, C Jefferson Quero had 2 hits for the Boars and that's about the end of the highlights for the batters.

G29 - @ NYN - SP Dave Angeli pitched well enough, allowing 2 ER in 5 IP, striking out 9 and walking 4. He left the game after 5, with a 3-2 lead. ST Tony Harris entered the game and gave up 3 ER in his 2 IP, taking the loss as he moved to 0-3. At the plate, LF Matt Baker led the way with 3 hits, including 2 doubles. 1B Danny O'Neal, C Andy Dahl, and SS Jacob Lombard had 2 hits each to provide some offense, but the Boars fell short 5-4, leaving the tying run on 2B when the final out was made.

G30 - @ NYN - SP Javier M Martinez Jr was brutal in his start, 8 H and 8 ER in his 2.1 IP. MR Mario De La Cruz took over and gave up 2 ER in his 2 IP before leaving the game with an injury (Shoulder inflammation, 5 months). CF Anthony Pack Jr (1-2, 2 BB) scored Birmingham's only run when he was driven in by DH Bobby Sharp filling in for Dave Roberson, who left the game with a sore back (1 day recovery).

G31 - @ Motor City - SP Mike Melchor allowed 3 HR in his 1st 3 IP, 1 each inning to remain consistent. He battled through 5 innings, allowing 5 ER in total. ST Tony Harris came in and gave up another run before ST David Heronemus came in and shut it down, but it was too late. SS Jacob Lombard had 3 hits, 1 RBI to lead the Boars batters.

G32 - @ Motor City - SP Masahiro Takiuchi pitched very well inhis matchup against SP Jay Murphy (the top pitcher Birmingham traded when new GM took over, his first game vs his old squad), 1 ER in 6 IP, left the game after 6 with the Boars leading 5-2. The Boars were able to get to Murphy, scoring 3 runs through 4 innings. ST David Heronemus took over for Taki and shut it down in the 7th, then the 8th inning happened. Heronemus lost it and gave way to MR Dustin Chandler, who provided the gasoline to the fire. The Machines scored 9 runs in the 8th. People, I'm telling you, they scored 9 runs before our relievers recorded an out in that inning. The worst bullpen meltdown in Birmingham history. I mean c'mon, it has to be, right?

G33 - @ Motor City - SP Fred Steward, of f to the great start, pitched the worst game of his career, because of course he did. Stewie allowed 8 R, 6 ER, in 3,1 IP, walking 5, striking out none. ST Tony Harris took over and rebounded with 2.1 scoreless IP. MR Dustin Chandler came in and gave up another run, and is quickly becoming unpitchable. On the bright side, DH Dave Roberson continued his MVP quality season with 4 hits, including a HR. LF Matt Baker also added a bomb and 1B Danny O'Neal slapped 3 hits, as the Boars dropped their 6th straight game, losing 9-8 to end this horrific week.
