Retaining Money / Trades

In a trade if I have an overpaid veteran who has 4 years and 15 million a year left on the deal and I agree to pay 50% at 7.5 million.

Am I agreement to just pick up the 7.5 million for that year? or the remainder of his contract? (basically I'd be paying for him to play for another team)?

It's that dollar amount every year for the remainder of the contract.

I think the game should offer a couple of more options for this, but as it is today, it's that amount for each season.

I only know this because I got the Rockies to cover $7.5 million per year of Arenado for the life of his deal.

Arenado at 28 million a year is much easier to tolerate than 35 million.

Tons of Free agents in my league want 45 million plus contracts

Yeah, at default Freddie Freeman wanted something like $60 million a year for an extension with the Braves.
Hard pass.
