random historic draft pool question (noob)

Hello all, new to this game, hoping I will get some answers here.
(im sure this question is asked alot so if you can let me know a link to thread that has already been discussed would be much appriciated)

I want to play with present league (2019 or 2020) with a draft pool of random historic players. ( for example , drat pool might consist of say,,,
Babe Ruth, Randy Johnson and Clayton Kershaw )

ive read the manual below but it still seems not to work.

is there any way for me to do that?

Are you running into a glitch or are you not sure how to get the players in? If you are wanting to bring in the players, create a fictional league with the player pool empty. You would then go in manually to the free agent section and click in the sign free agent screen.

Select historical_database.odb. Under player name a good source is baseball reference. For example, Babe Ruth is ruthba01. You will also need to select the year you wish to use.
