In the 16 years of managing the mighty Oakland A's in my Constellation League save I have seen plenty of great achievements. Multiple championships. Steven Strasburg's 223 win, 6 Apollo Medal, HOF career that was spent entirely with our organisation. A few no-nos. Aaron Judge's spectacular 10-WAR 54 HR 2009. Too many others to mention.

But this is my favourite of all: Scott Young's perfect 26-0 2020 campaign.

There's some background info on Scott HERE, but to summarise - he was a decent enough reliever for us who somehow over the course of last offseason turned into a monster SP.

With his ratings I felt confident he'd give us a good season, but never in my wildest dreams did I envisage what unfolded over the next 6 or so (sim) months.

As you can see from the screenshot below, he was a machine all year, only giving up more than 3 ER once and just churning out win after win. His 1.70 ERA, 26 wins, 1.000 winning %, 5.83 H/9, 0.84 WHIP, .1826 OBA, .2285 OBP and .496 OPS are all new season bests in the league. He came up just short for WAR, posting an 8.48 mark against the all-time best of 9.06.

His season will be forever enshrined in the league's annals as it is also a Triple Crown-winning one for him, a feat only achieved by two other pitchers. Obviously he is almost a lock for a unanimous Apollo Medal win.

It has been an honour to set those fields and push those commands behind him.

He signed for next year at a whopping $300k... I doubt we'll see change from a mil from this point on...

(My league ave for Superstars is $4m and highest payroll is $60m, just to give it some context...)

I know, right. I suspect if he were a 10-10 / 4.00 pitcher I'd be getting rid of them pronto...

My biggest concern about posting this was the jinx factor come playoff time.

Sure enough in Game 1 of the DCS he gets tagged for a deuce in the top 1st. Up to 11 go the Spidey senses.

Thankfully he pulled it together and, while he was far from his best and only lasted 5, we got the win.
