Game crashes

When i'm running oopt5 the game will just crash when i try to do something. I've tried different things out to see what happened. When I tried to make a contract extension offer to Jeromy Burnitz, it worked fine, along with other people who wanted a minor league contract. When i tried to offer an extension to Armando Benitez, and message pops up and says

OOTP5.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem

We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.
To see what this error report contains, click here

then there are two buttons that say send error report and don't send error report. the game closes anyway. The game will also have this problem when i try to sim any period of time (day, week, month, etc.) or try to view something that opens in a new window (like top 100 prospects, financial report, etc.)

This is as much as I know about my computer.

Windows XP
70 GB available on the hard drive
Intel Pentium 4 2.40 ghz
480mb ram (thats what it says when i click system from the control panel menu)
I also have direct x 9a
If there is anything else you need to know, just tell me.

Have you restarted your computer and this still happens? Does this happen everytime? Is this an online league?

it happens everytime i run the game. and it's not an online league. It will happen whenever i do any of these things, even if i have restarted the computer or not.
