OOTP 2007 Beta Database Ready...

Hey guys. I put together a DB for use with the upcoming game. While all of the previous DBs will still work on the new game the idea was to create one which implements the new "import ratings each season" feature and still be able to have players import in their first pro season. The setup is a bit different as it required to DBs in one (one for initial import and one for regular yearly use)...

I am sending it to OOTP modsquad if any beta testers want to try it... hopefully they'll post it soon.

Basic Information (Feb 2007)

This database will work on 2007 using the “adjust ratings every season option”. This is a Beta Version for Testing on OOTP2007

For those new to the game the concept of this database is to include every player and still correct the flaws of importing in OOTP. In addition to this, because the purpose of OOTP is to manage a team as players develop during their entire career, it will import players according to when they actually made their pro-debut as opposed to their major league debut, and at ratings according to their age.

For best results in OOTP 2007 this package includes 2 full databases and another directory with the original Lahman Batting Pitching and Fielding Files.

The 1st directory “2007Import” should be used when you first create your league. Make the appropriate edits described below then create your historical league. Your league should now include any players who played that year on their teams, minor leaguers in their organization on their rosters and players who missed the season as Free Agents.

Note:
In this DB each of the Batting, Pitching and Fielding csv files is sorted by year. I also include the original LahmanDB files sorted in this way. The way to import the historical stats is to open each of my files in Notepad and delete the seasons previous to the one you start with (e.g. if you start in 1977, delete 1871-1976’s stats) then copy those seasons from the supplied Lahman (in their subdirectory) files above the remaining years in my file. Now, when you import players they will retain their original previous statistics upon import.

The 2nd directory “2007Yearly” should be used from every year on. This DB includes players actual yearly statistics and an import year stat line for player the year they made their professional debut. Using this database will import players as rookies when they made their pro debut and allow the game to adjust players as the game is designed.

Note:
To come up with the “debut” numbers I used OOTP basic ability scale for AAA-Rookie League player adjustment modifiers. A players BA will be 85% if they spent 1 year in the minors, 80% for two years and so on to 60% for 5 or more years. Their other stats are adjusted accordingly.

Final Note for Testers…
I would like feedback on how this database handles pitcher/hitters such as Babe Ruth but more specifically players like Canseco, Oquendo and Halter who made brief pitching appearances.


Gambo 2007 OOTP DB

This is the newest version of my database. Using this database OOTP will import players whether they were in the majors or minor leagues and assign them properly to their correct organizations.

Here is a rundown of the changes made to create this database…

Changes from previous Gambo DBs

Negro Leaguers have been removed.
No Longer a career average DB.
No Longer division between players who pitched and played other positions regularly (e.g. Babe Ruth)


Future Updates

I’d like to create an alternate database which implements Negro Leaguers and such, also some minor leaguers who never reached the majors. For now however let me try and make sure this version is up and running.
