I recently formatted my desktop PC, but before doing so I made sure to backup my OOTP saved game file. I performed a regular in-game backup, and I also copied over my league folder to an external hard drive. Now, ever since I re-installed OOTP to the freshly formatted PC, I am unable to import my game from my backup file and I cannot load my league from the regular league file either. I keep getting this error message:
"An error occurred while loading the database could not load world file" I sent in a support ticket weeks ago and uploaded my league files to the FTP server, but I still have not heard back from tech support. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I was near the end of my sixth season (playing every game out) and really do not want to lose my franchise. Thanks in advance for any help! |

I just did a search for your ticket and I think I found it. Is it from 8/23 and did it say "Error While Loading Saved Game After Reinstalling OOTP 11"? If that's not it, send me a private message with your ticket number.
I'll look at your ticket later today and respond. I'm sorry it got ignored for so long, but we don't have enough techs and I was sick for about a week. Maybe someone else will have an idea before I respond, but if not, check your ticket later.

OK, I got your PM. So that wasn't your ticket I found - I was looking for one with no replies. Well, I'll look at your ticket and that other person's ticket today as well. I see yours has been waiting even longer and I'm very sorry about that. Hopefully we'll get this figured out soon.

Not sure if you got my PM before your last post. I uploaded the league file as "crossthebreeze"

Crossthebreeze, you're in good hands with oldtimer. He's kind of like the Allstate of the volunteer tech support skeleton crew. If he can't get 'er done, it can't get done. I wish you all the best in getting your game restored. It's a real PITA when that happens after you've poured most of your hobby time into building up your baseball universe and then suddenly you're cut off from it. Best wishes and a bump of the thread in the hopes that somebody with a little more technical grey matter will come along and be able to help you is all this technically challenged (not a complete luddite, but not up there with a lot of the other folks on the forum) OOTPer can offer you. Cheers. Last edited by actionjackson; 08-31-2010 at 06:51 PM. |

this happened to me too, but i doubt your problem is as simple as this.
Make sure you have a version of the game that is a later version number than your saved game. I did a fresh install of my game on a new harddrive and my save file wouldn't open. I just assumed that the game I downloaded was the latest version, but it was actually a version earlier than my saved game...just make sure that you have the latest patch! good luck though with your problem. |

I'm doing much better now and am trying to catch up even though we're hopelessly behind. We've got someone new who's supposed to be helping out soon, so maybe we'll start getting caught up. In the mean time... Could everyone just stop having problems with their game and computers (it's not always the game) and leave us alone for a while?!
