A poll about women's / mixed leagues
I've said before that I'm not against dividing the community on certain matters, so here I go again
![]() Inspired by this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...gen-women.html , along with my very old thread on the matter, I decided to actually create a poll on it. The wording of the question took some thinking about, because I wanted it to be neutral, but still give me a reasonable idea of people's opinions, and I wanted it to be a yes / no poll (I prefer them). I've said plenty of times (including in the two threads mentioned) that I don't see why women's leagues (or, indeed mixed leagues) shouldn't be allowed in game. I'm aware that it can be mostly approximated using modified name files and some pronoun ignorance, but that isn't the point of this thread. |

Can't vote since "no opinion" isn't an option.

People have simulated fast pitch leagues in OOTP before though. And there have been women's baseball leagues.

A feature I might never use but it might be fun replaying the AAGPBL.

Or... I could "make up" for the Confederate Baseball Association (see sig for link) by creating the AAAGPBL... Or... Isn't there women's pro ball right now? Or wasn't there women's pro ball during this millennium? Or... who cares if it doesn't exist? I'm not okay with our game accomodating Hobbits and not accomodating women... there may be a lawsuit there, somewhere... but where to file it??? [sound of flipping pages] [remove tongue from cheek]

there will come a day when women play in MLB, NBA, and poss NFL god knows I would love to sack a female QB.
Cryo that other thread was brutal 4 pages (i only read page 1) As In the Facegen- Women thread I like having some women in the game. Wouldnt it just be eaier to add female 1st names to the names.txt then edit their height and weight vs asking Markus to code women into the game? Yeah it gets tiresome to manually add women to my 2 league in which i use them. I didnt add any to my ABF in 2008. In my Endor league In 2030 The Pontiac Firebirds were 99% female plus 1 Dragonman...In 2038 they were about 45% female. 1 winning season overall. But 1 thing i like in OOTP vs High Heat is i can now use an accurate picture or facegen for them. In my Endor league the most Hr ever hit by a women is 29 by Marla Hootch in 2033. Dottie Hinson is the only current HOF er but she was a C with 2500 hits and 7 GG's. Most wins by a woman is 121 by Kit Keller in 16 sns. she also has the most losses at 187. Most SB for any gender is Anna Kournikova's 165. Sorry if u guys dont care about that, I like posting stuff from that league. I would like to see names added to the names.txt but its just as easy to do it ourselves. |

"I don't care" would be my real choice. I voted no, if I'm forced too. But honestly, as with most things, if Markus wants to take the time to make it happen, I'd probably end up using it at some point.

This is another whacky idea of the kind that gives OOTP a bad name on other message boards and helps to convince people that OOTP players are ahistorical, scifi-type freaks.

I in part agree with The Wolf on this 1, although I dont care ultimately what people think. Its interesting. OOTP has many type of players on here. Wolf do u play non traditional custom leagues? that my fav part of OOTP is my 2 unique custom leagues. I also love historical/single season replay and now the EBL online league i am in.

perhaps but its not outside the realm of plausibilty that if girls played baseball vs softball that they 1 might be able to throw 99 or be a no hit great glove middle IF. As far as NBA, I would rather see some of them on Da Bulls then the scrubs that r there now.

forgot to add baseball pitchers used to throw underhand in the early days. Jennie Finch and another girl whose name is escaping me with a 96 mph raising fastball underhanded is something most men cant do, or shouldnt attempt at least.

But to answer the question... depends on the country, and the party... that reminds me, isn't there a Canadian election soon? ... Don't answer that. I'll check the Globe & Mail website... or something.

Prospective members scan our forum, and then see a disrespectful/closeminded post such as those typically posted by you and a handful of others here, and then they shy away from joining so as to not suffer the abuse. If you disagree with someone, POLITELY state a case. Or just stay out of the thread.

Cryomaniac, I would never use a women's league, but I'm ok with the concept if it is easy to implement and doesn't take away from our "core" needs.

Exactly, and I've never said it should be a priority.
