I did not draft him. I have to trade for prospects because I usually have the last pick in the first round. He was however the first pick of his draft because he always showed that kind of potential. He was someone I wanted from the first time I saw him though...I mean, who wouldn't want him?

To develop him I let him sit in the minors and only brought him up for bullpen work in September for a few seasons. Once he got to 2 stars out of 5 I put him in my rotation and he jumped to 5/5 stars in one season.

I think this guy takes the prize. 540+ wins as a starter, 5600 K's. Anybody beat that?

This guy Cates came up as an 18 yr old with 20-18-18 ratings. I tried to get him by trade with no luck and waited 6 yrs for him to go FA, but lost a bidding war with the Dodgers ($35M per). For some reason I can't fathom, after 4 yrs with LA, at age 28 - arguably in his prime, still with 20-18-18 stuff- he settles for something like $15M as an extension, and I got him in a trade for 4 players. He pitched 13 yrs for my team, went 30-1 in one season and never won less than 20 in any year. Never spent any time on the DL either! I let him go at age 42 even though he was still a 4-star rating at 11-15-17. He signed for $16M per yr for his last 3 seasons and still won an extra 40+ games before hanging them up. Got to be the best all-time iOOTP starter - I would love to know if anyone has seen or had a guy with better stats.
