How can there be an OOTP 2016 before the 2015 season even begins?

What gives? Selling a "2016" version before 2015 even takes place seems awfully sleazy to me, like with car dealers.

Because OOTP 16 is the 16th edition of the game. Not OOTP2016.

Even though darkcloud4579 answered the question It's the same way every other sport game does it as well.

Great example look at NHL15.. cam out in September of 2014 for the 2014 season. No difference.

Except that earlier versions of OOTP were OOTP 5, OOTP 8, etc., not OOTP 05 or OOTP 08...

Granted, I know they are NOT selling "2016" and that they are selling "16". I must know, what is sleazy about this if it were to be true (Which it's not)?

Yes I realize this, I was saying if it was 16 as in 2016, it would be no different then any other spots franchise.

We did have an OOTP2006 that came out in.......2006...

I blame Markus for not foreseeing this back when he released OOTP 1 in 99. If he'd have released it in 2001, all would make sense. For shame Markus...for shame.

The only possible fix is to use 16 as a two-year release. Then OOTP 17 will come out in 2017 and will get the series back on track for release # equalling year.

I really hope you are just drunk or something, otherwise its just another case of "you cannot fix stupid" or you are just another troll bashing OOTP for some made up reason because nowhere does it say its OOTP 2016, its OOTP 16 everywhere like a previous response pointed out.

Meh...it's not totally crazy to think OOTP16 is similar to OOTP2016. It's not like it's OOTP 3 that came out in 2015. 16-1=15. So...OOTP16-(1)=15 is not all that far off crazy.

Looking at my game library, I have:

NBA 2k15 (released October 2014)
Madden 15 (not, in fact, the 15th iteration of that game. Released August 16, 2014)
NCAA Football 14 (also not the 14th edition. Released July 9, 2013)

Outside of MLB the Show, there does not appear to be a non-"sleazy" sports game manufacturer out there. Bunch of damn car salesman!
