Pretty much all of them. As you play you'll notice a few that make the bigs in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Most of them are Hawaiian asians by birth or grew up in Hawaii or California. The asians were kept away for several extra decades probably partially due to WWII.

Try this one....I made random a part of the regular Spritze DB now. The random ODB is now incorporated.

I point the game to the ODB file with random debut and I get no players in the inaugural draft. This is using the new ZIP file.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Is it possible to have these Japanese players debuting every year in a draft in their own league, or even just as free agents?

No I did. I got the wrong file in the right place. just one of them but it was enough to kill random. I'll have a new and well tested one in about 5 minutes. Sorry.

First off Spritze, congrats. Take a bow. This looks like an amazing database and it looks like a helluva lot of work went into it.

I'm just curious though as to why there are no 2014 seasons for current players, except for those that debuted in 2014. As a result guys that enjoyed breakout seasons in 2014 like Jose Altuve, J D Martinez, Corey Kluber etc probably won't get the ratings bump that their breakout seasons suggest they should, or other guys who escape me at the moment who took big steps back in 2014 won't have that show up either. Jacob DeGrom and Jose Abreu will be fine because they debuted in 2014, but others who did not debut in 2014 won't have their breakout 2014 seasons reflected in their ratings. Like I said, I think this looks like the best database going. I'm just confused by this seeming omission.

Maybe, I'm just confused period.

I didn;t seem to have a problem getting RD to work, why did others? i drafted 2 Negro league players. One was Barney Brown who might have been rated a bit high at 4 stars but had some good stats.

[new to OOTP} Is there an OOTP16 version of this database sans Asian players? And/or is there a way for me to monkey with the csv files to remove Asian players and Negro Leaguers and add them to later years? (Basically I want to start in 1871 and play forward, diversifying the player pool starting in about the late 20s.)

Asian players don't come in until the 1930's and Negro Leaguers start in 1901 or thereabouts.

Mr. Lahmans database that I use to build both mine and the two historical databases that come with the game changed a lot this year.

Fielding stats for all of 2014 are missing important information and this caused the fielding processing of 2014 to fail. Which in turn led that process to be unable to export players 2014 records properly. I did not notice this undocumented change when creating the databases.

I'll need to find a source other than Lahman for these fielding records and check to see if that made the historical part of generic OOTP fail as well. I'm thinking the roster team has a different source.

I'd say that next year I'll need to use information other than what Lahman provides as this is about the 20th undocumented change he has made for his current version which has caused challenges with OOTP16's two historical databases. That is 20 too many.

I made a mistake that killed random while I was fixing something else so not every iteration did not work randomly.

Thanks .. I should've clarified though -- I am aiming to run a random debut game whereby Asian players and Negro Lg players start arriving in 20s or 30s.

Only way I can think of is to delete unwanted players that show up in draft pool and import them in individually once I reach that stage in the game's history.

Yup do that, cause random means anyone can show up at anytime. Randomly.

Awesome database, indeed - it's great to have the chance to have all the great Negro League players in the majors ... but one thing stunned me:

I now twice simmed up until the late 30's and found a drastic lack of HR's.

While all offensive categories are close to what happened in real life, Babe Ruth is the all-time champ at an even 400

Are there any settings I should/could change to get HR totals closer to real life ?

Whoa! Babe Ruth's career OBP was in the neighbourhood of his RL OBP, but his SLG is nowhere near what it was IRL. I wonder if having all those stars in the game at the same time made it tougher to divvy up the HR and XBH properly. Only Spritze knows.

Well not tougher really but there are a fairly finite number of HR's for a season as a whole and Mr. Ruth just does not stick so far above the tide when it includes star Negro Leaguer Hitters and Pitchers as well.

If you want more HR's and such you can set the LeagueSettings/ StatsandAI/ league Strategy/ historical year to the Steroid Era and things might be different.

OOTP just lets the chips fall where they may. Bottom line is if the color line had not existed player records would have been very different. Mr. Ruth would have faced a better class of pitchers as a whole. The point of my database is "What if.....".

Oh yeah, in my personal game I usually have 24 to 32 teams in my league and adding the extra bad pitchers gets Mr. Ruth back to 600-700 HR's.
