How to keep free agent and extension money?

I'm running the Miami Marlins and in the middle of the season I had 20 mill+ in Free Agent money and none in Extension.

Now I have 6 mil+ in Extensions but nothing for Free Agents in the middle of the offseason.

I'm doing wrong financially aren't I.

Why do you think that? Something happened that you don't understand yet, that's all.

Realize that a budget is a fluid thing that can be changed by a number of factors:

• When the offseason began, the owner may have lowered your budget for next year.
  
• The owner may have taken money out of the organization for his own profit.
  
• The game estimates a bunch of stuff coming up in the future - maybe one or more of those changed?
  
• Maybe you signed a guy or two to expensive contracts and forgot?

Finances are tough for even experienced players to follow. If you want to understand them, keep an eye on these two boxes in your Finances window. Lesson #1 is seeing that the game uses two separate methods in calculating Money for Free Agents and Money for Extensions. The first one is using this year's budget as a basis whereas the second one uses next year's projections.

Lesson #25 may be clicking the Accounting tab, which is where the numbers that you see in Lesson #1 are presented in detail. There are many of us (including me) who have not yet fully mastered Lesson #25, I assure you!
