Fictional League - Amateur draft question

Is it possible in a fictional league to only have 2 or 3 Major League players entered into the amateur draft? Say the 1978 draft, is it possible to have Cal Ripken Jr. and Ryne Sandberg in the draft pool with all of the fictional players? If so, how would I do this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeah there are a few ways you can do this. If you go into Commissioner Mode, then go to Free Agents, you can Import Historical Players from the Available Actions button on the right. You'll have to enter the player's Baseball Reference ID and the year you want to use as their debut (this link will tell you how to do that: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post3664097)

You can also have them pulled automatically into the amateur draft each season but it'll be more than two or three players. If you go to Game Settings then League Settings then Historical, you can check Use Random Rookies From All Eras. You'll get quite a selection of players from all eras to draft.

But if you want to control who comes into the league, the first option is probably your best bet. Although you can use the Import/Export Rosters function to do this as well, I'm just not sure how many players you'd want to draft would be in the All-Time Greatest quickstart that comes with the game. You can create a test league with that quickstart, and once it's set up, export the rosters to a text file and then open them with Excel. Decide how many players out of that league you want to draft, and then create the same number of draftable free agents in your current league and then export those rosters to a text file. Make sure you create the draftable free agents from the same country so it is easy to sort them out from the rest of the free agents. Then copy and paste all the players you want to draft (excluding their player IDs, team names, and team IDs since those will all be different in your league and if their player IDs aren't already in your league then the historical players won't be created in your draft) from the historical rosters to your league rosters. Copy and paste all their info except for the three categories I listed above. Then save the rosters file as a .csv file and import it back into your league. All the players you want to draft should appear in the draft pool now.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks. I'll have to test it out this weekend.
