In game strategy game options
I've searched for an answer to this question in the forums but can't seem to find it.
How do the team controls prior to starting a game affect strategy if I only want to watch? I want to set the strategy and have the team use that but not actually make every in game decision, but I do want to watch the games. If I select my name on the strategy options and then go into the game, will nothing happen unless I make that decision? Or will it use my strategy regardless of anything I do or don't do? If I choose the AI as the decision maker does it default to something else? I basically want to watch the game play out using my preset strategy but am not sure how to actually get that to happen. Thanks! |

well, depends if gm or gm-coach etc.
if gm-only you'll need to use the "gm-legacy" option at least eventually. some coach will not let you set the strategy sliders at some point. is there something akin to specatator view? as long as it automates and yo don't click 1 or whtever, it's all good. make sure your name is selected in dropdown. not sure if you can watch or if you have to sim half innings at a time -- should be obvious from gui options what is needed to be done. look over all options. other people do this, so ignore my seeming skepticism. your name has to be there to use your chosen strategy sliders for the team. worse comes to worst you can edit the bench coach strategies to match. |

I am doing gm/coach and my name is there and I have been doing one at bat at a time. With my name selected for all options and just pushing the space bar, the game doesn't seem to do any strategies automatically, so maybe I do need to go half innings at a time? I haven't tried that yet.

Yes, I just tried simulating by half-inning and if I set my name as the control, the AI does nothing. So do I have to simulate the entire game if I don't want to actually manage every in-game decision as GM/manager?

says you can watch... look through related pages i guess... like i said, worse comes to worst, edit your bench coach to your style on strats, then make sure he's selected at start of game options. that will be no different. in fact, i've always wondered if a highly rated coach is better than a "human" caoch when simulating or auto-playing games etc... (not when you make the decisions, of course)... if it comes down to the ratings, what ratings does a human have? 100/200 or equivalent results to that? my best guess. that's how things work when you turn coaching off, for example... all coaches are equal and "normal/average." edit: option 2 for worse comes to worst.... Use a replay of the game... just like watching it happen, but on rails. Simply load it up to watch immediately after you sim the day. And, you don't have to edit the bench coach.
