Having historical players in draft?

I checked the box to use historical players in league settings and at first all seemed fine. I didn't however over of course of my first two drafts didn't see anyway players I knew. Well I put together a new test league to just constantly Sim to see if any showed up I knew and started getting error of wrong path? I have steam version of game and never changed any settings. I searched to make sure I had right location of needed file and all found was how to do it from rather previous version of game. I played around with import files kinda blindly and that didnt seem to help. Actually I caused my game to become unstable. I had movey save files and reinstall the game lol.

This is in standard play mode. I had hoped just see say Pete rose show up in 2022 draft lol. Looked like it was possible but appears I'm screwing this up? Or is it even possible to do it?

It is possible to do. It is called Random Debut. I may be mistaken but I think it needs to be a historical league. I would look in the manual for information about the draft and draft options. I would also look into historical leagues.
