				Expansion draft questions/comments

			Hi,

I started a new season and created and took control of an expansion team. I have a couple questions/comments/recommendations to make on the expansion draft: 1- I was careful to pick only one player per team, as was the rule for the Knights last year, but it seems there was no limit on how many players per team I was able to choose. For example, I was hesitating between Rakell and Silvferberg from ANA and it turns out I was able to pick both. Is this configurable? 2- The view of available players isn't very user friendly in a few ways. You can filter by position but not by team, which would be handy when trying to select only one player per team. Also, any time a window is open (like to view a player's ratings), the view resets itself and has to be sorted again, which is annoying. 3- I used the Draft List feature to filter out players that were of interest to me, and that is a great feature. However, I can't actually draft a player from the Draft List view; I have to decide the player I want while on Draft List view, then switch to Draft Class view and find the player again to actually draft him. Being able to draft from the Draft List view would be awesome. 4- This is a personal preference but I don't like having to draft goalies first, then D, then FWD. I'd rather be able to draft whoever I want regardless of position, as long as I have the minimum required amounts per position at the end of the draft. 5- The fact the team is created on July 1 means it doesn't get the benefit of an entry draft in its first year. Maybe this could be rectified by deciding on July 1 that the expansion will occur *next* year? e.g. On July 1, 2018 I set up an expansion team for the 2019-2020 season, so the new team can participate in the entry draft before the expansion draft. Just a thought. Anyway, I am enjoying my Seattle Soundgarden game immensely but just wanted to share my thoughts and see what people and dev thought about them. Cheers! |

Here's a bug I discovered. I took Ryan Ellis in the expansion draft and on July 1, 2019, he was back with the Preds because he had an extension signed prior to me acquiring him. I moved him back over using Commissioner Mode but that's obviously a bug.

The number of player picked per team is annoying yes, especially when its an expansion driven by the CPU.

The same annoyance was in FHM 4 also. I did an expansion where I did not take over the new teams once, these 2 expansion teams took me respectively 7 and 6 players, took about the same number of players to the dallas stars (me and Dallas was both heavy cup contenders) and did not take any player from several teams. For me, the expansion draft pick logic is broken and need a little bit of rework, especially for CPU controlled draft picking. |
