Opening Packs

The animations are all messed up. First I had a huge pack in the middle of the screen. Nothing happened. Minutes pass. So I click buttons and the cards kind of open sideways behind the pack. Sometimes they don't come out behind it at all.

Like, What, The, Frack. This **** worked fine last night, WHAT THE HELL??

So I go into settings and try to futz with that. I finally manage to get the dumb pack out of the middle of the screen, and once or twice I could see the cards go one on top of the other, but that was only like four cards. Where are the other two cards?

Then that stopped working.

So I'm burning thru money to buy packs, when I was intentionally NOT buying packs because the only really satisfying part of these first two weeks where you run in place and have whales crush you in place enough to ponder tanking two weeks in, and

I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE CARDS I'VE ACQUIRED???

Who broke this and how do I fix it, because its not much fun if you can't even see the cards you acquire and can't really figure out what you got.

PLZ stop breaking things that work.

p.s. The card reveal on PT20 works absolutely fine. What is the point of messing with this at this point? What call was there for a new pack opening graphic that doesn't work?

by turning it to on the click to advance I was able to see the cards, which are literally put right on top of each other. There is no spread out tableau like before.

why did this change? I am assuming it was you because i did nothing to my computer between shutting down last night and opening up today. The packs worked fine. But if you're going to change something that doesn't need fixing, please don't break it in the process.

Best I can Columbo it, you did something to everyone's settings because my settings were changed today and I had to reset my profile/settings to a ratings scale. I don't know what that has to do with the pack opening animation, but I can tell you right now, I'd rather have the choice of the old version where you could see them all and put your cursor over them than this poorly conceived iteration where only the last one you drew is truly visible.

Could you please restore the old manner of animation and make this new one an option, because I really really really really really hate it. I like looking at all the cards, not just the top of the pack. Really really dumb change.

Hi, usually this means something has gotten corrupted in your system. There are a few things you can try to fix the issue.

1. It might mean that the card animations somehow got corrupted or overwritten. If you are running on Steam, you can go to your steam library, right click on the game, and go Properties -> Local Files, and use the "verify integrity of game files" option. If you are not running on Steam, then if you are on the main page and press the settings button at the bottom of the screen, on the troubleshooting tab, there is a button there to re-install the game files.

2. The other option is that your local user data files got corrupted, which seems possible if you did have to reset your ratings options. For that one, if you go to the settings dialog mentioned above, there's a button to open folder containing app.cfg. In there, the file that matters in this case would be the user.dat file. With your OOTP game closed, I would suggest making a copy/backup of that file, then deleting the old file. When you open up OOTP again, it should restore to the default, so you may need to redo some customizations in-game. But it's worth trying to see if there's something in there which messed things up for your pack opening.

Try out those options and see if that fixes things. If they don't work, the next step would be to simply re-install the game fully to see if that helps. If none of that works, please reply back here and we can look at other troubleshooting options.

deleting that config file worked.

Yeah it clearly got corrupted because I was also prompted for the end-user license earlier, despite having clicked that weeks ago. now it works.

thanks!

I had this strike again, but this time in Steam in PT20. [I'm cross-posting this] I've uninstall and installed. Installed to different drives. I've deleted the file, I've shut down and then reinstalled. I'm not sure what else I can do. I guess I'm accumulating packs for a while....

L'il help?
