Help with Sim Historial League

I am new to the forums (and the game) so if these questions are asked in other threads, please redirect me. I looked through and I couldn't locate the right info.

I am looking to do a historical simulation league with 8-10 teams where we draft players and select a single season*from that player for a team (e.g, a player can only be drafted by one team). After a few days, I have figured out how to draft players and get them assigned to each team. Here is where I could use some advice.

I need some help with the after the draft process. All I want to do is play a season (maybe 60 games*+ playoffs). When I tried a test league I had some issues after I started the season. All of sudden random free agents*were assigned to the teams, others got injured. I tried a second time and turned off the injuries but I still had random players assigned to rosters. I thought I drafted the rights amount of players to fill the rosters (I set up a 24 player roster, each team drafted 24 players), but somehow I have random OOTP free agents on the rosters. Additionally, when I advance the schedule to play games, my lineups/rotations are altered.

I am not sure what settings to use. All I am trying to do is assign players, set the hitting lineups/pitching rotations and sim the games. I am ok with the AI playing the games and performing the in-game manager decisions. I want to skip all the spring training and franchise functions.

I would appreciate any advice.

Try drafting 40 players per team and have a reserve roster. Or draft 24 like you have been and after the draft delete all the undrafted free agents. Just a couple of guesses.
