Bunting

I've played the first 2.5 months of a season in OOTB. I've noticed that if you ask a player to bunt, rarely is it successful. In fact, I don't recall a successful bunt from a pitcher, or regular batter. In fact, batters known for their bunting have not been successful.

Has anyone else witnessed this anomaly?

Could be a settings issue (League Settings/Stats & AI/League Totals (right hand side of screen)/Sac Bunts). This setting will influence success rates, interacting with player ratings.

Or could just be a small sample size. Though certainly in two and a half months of a season you should likely have seen plenty of successful sacrifice bunts. (I'm just assuming you were talking about sac bunts here, but if you mean bunts for hits, well, that would be another thing entirely in terms of expected success rates.)

To second what CBeisbol indicated, I have seen no obvious issues in this area. (And I am playing OOTP 21 exclusively now.)

The Sac Bunts is set at 3.296. Does that seem like a normal number?

I played through the season. I'd would say out of 20 attempts, maybe 1 bunt was successful by any batter I sent to the plate. To the point where I removed it as a strategy. (Not playing the pitch-by-pitch mode)

The opposing teams have been more successful with it.

Most times the bunt is attempted and it is a missed bunt. It just seemed abnormal. However, if others are not seeing the same abnormality then perhaps it is the players I'm using. However, I know from the past Rodney Scott bunted successfully - sacrifice, for a base hit, etc quite often, but not in the games I've played.

The version I am using is OOTB 21 on steam/ubuntu.

I'd imagine you're more successful than you think

Did you know Rodney Scott was a successful HS basketball player? He played guard on a small team that still did well. He averaged 22.5 points a game his senior year and made the all state team.

Are you referring to the Rodney Scott that played second base in the 70s and early 80s? I haven't seen reference to basketball and Rodney Scott.

Surprisingly hard to find a good link to this online, but yes, I'm pretty sure he is talking about the very same Rodney Scott you are referring to.

Same with 21. Bob Veale had 12 Sacs last year (66). Team is set no Sacs and he's set over ride team with slider in the middle.

there is zero reason the paying community should be manually tracking anything.
There is zero reason the game shoudn't actually keep track and end the wasteless theorizing : )))
