Daytona Beach edges out to the lead in OL St139. Much more action ahead today should shake things up.

Pack Luck finally visits Vlora

As I think I've noted either in this thread or elsewhere in the forums, my 3 teams have shown a distinct difference in their pack luck. While Ring Road and K-Town have enjoyed some good pulls, Vlora has consistently been limited to bare minimum results.

And when I say "bare minimum", it couldn't be any more bare or minimum. Regular packs never give anything above Bronze. Gold packs never give above Gold (and usually an 80PVR, Live Gold). Historical packs never give above Gold, and again, usually an 80-82PVR player.

So imagine my surprise at the two regular packs I just opened. The first gave the White Stallions 99PVR Legend Hank Greenberg. That pack also completed a mission, which produced the second pack, containing 98PVR All-Star Mariano Rivera.

Maybe this is the beginning of something for Vlora? White Stallions management certainly hopes so.

Maybe there is some White Stallion luck in that! Boy, it sounds like you are big time over due.

My pack luck has been better than normal however, still not great.

I get very few Silver, Gold, and even fewer Diamonds however, 99% of the low Diamonds I get, are Live!

I have yet to get a Perfect.

The top rated card that I have pulled has been a 95 Jacob deGrom 2018, and I've actually pulled it twice.

First time I quickly flipped him in the AH for 50,000pp.

The second one, I decided to use as my pitching is killing me in Gold.

My team still has the Gold Level jinx.

98% of the time my team is in Silver, we are a powerhouse. The next season I get promoted to Gold, and 75% of my top player all of the sudden can't do anything well, which leads me back down to Silver, to start the same process all over again.

Currently I am in Gold and my top two rated pitchers who are 97 and 98 rated both share a combined record of 4-22.

Hartford Hold On in OL S276

The Whalers continue to set the pace in 2048, but the race widened at the halfway point. At least a half-dozen teams have a realistic hope that a hot streak could turn the tide.

Stone Update:

Limited play has produced a tight race in OL St139. Daytona Beach hosts Vlora for a big 4-game series late tonight. The Clubbers maintain a shot at the title, while Iron Maiden is wasting away towards Margaritaville and the Rookie leagues. (Please excuse the mix of musical genres in that)

The Cats are mauling opponents in rookie league, trying to prove they belong in a higher level. Clever use of PP points got a solid team together that's now racking up a ton of bonuses so time to get more players...

...and will probably flame out in round one on Sunday, ROFL

OL S276 Race ThisClose as Field Widens

Port Ruppert grabbed the top spot by a single point as the role call for contenders spread. At this point, no team has been eliminated.

Gold league update:

Krikkit swept through their July OL schedule to remain scorchingly hot through the summer. The only thing that stands between them and perfection is three games against Waffletown in September. I believe it's a foregone conclusion for the OL crown this season, though I only took a quick look at Brigadoon's remaining OL games (if they win all 22 games, they end with a .750 winning pct. If Krikkit loses their last 3, they still have an .850 winning pct).

Arrow News Flash--Hooterville Hits Paydirt!

Late last night, Hooterville landed a 100 Tom Glavine from one of the four drop packs they received for watching Rich's Perfect Team Playoff Prep Show!

Up until last night, Hooterville had not landed one 100 Perfect Card, and was having mediocre to semi-poor luck with foil packs, since PT21 was released.

Of the four packs opened up, Hooterville hit back-to-back foild packs containing a Perfect Card.

The first one last night was 100 Live Edwin Diaz, who is currently only worth 22,675pp.

Hooterville's 2nd foil pack contained Glavine, which a total shock, as it is the first ever Non-Live Perfect card I have ever pulled.

My track record is very poor as these are the only other two Perfect Cards I have ever pulled.

PT19-100 Mike Trout during Beta Test

PT20-100 Chris Sale

So now Hotterville is at a major crossroad.

What should they do?

Is the100 Glavine a big stud and will turn my team's historical poor performances into a powerhouse to be reckoned with for seasons to come or do we sell him off in the AH and use the proceeds to retool the team with super high-rated players, mainly pitchers?

For the last several seasons Hooterville has turned into a Silver Level Powerhouse however, they get their butt handed to them in the first season they get promoted up to Gold. Then after the horible season, they get regulated back down to Silver for 1-2 years, and then they get promoted back up to Gold for 1 year, and get regulated back down to Silver, repeat, repeat, repeat.

For those of you with teams in the Gold Level or Higher, how is Glavine in those levels?

Based on his current 7 day average, he either is a very rare card, a major impact player/card, or both.

I would appreciate any useful feedback.

Thanks in Advance!

!

nice pull!

guess it boils down to... do you think you can get that last 7 price for him if you move him now; and if so, what players do you have in mind to bring aboard?

wouldn't mind having to worry about such things with my bunch

Agree. A million can get you a decent cache of players.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

As of right now, I think I am going to sit on my 100 Tom Glavine for at least one week, so I can hopefully enjoy him play.

After 3 "real years" of scrapping away at playing PT and opening hundreds and hundreds of packs, only to have mediocre success, I finally hit the jackpot, and I want to enjoy my moment in the spot light for a while as I may never be in this position again.

I really enjoy the guys on my current starting roster.

Sure, I am planning on acquiring a few more position players and some more pitchers, and for me, that is one of the fun parts of this game.

I already know that if I sell my Glavine, and revamp my whole team, it would be fun, at first, however, I know that I will not be able to compete with all of the Perfect Teams and Diamond Team owners who are paying to play.

How much fun would it be to have a powerhouse team stuck in Diamond, and loosing year after year?

From my POV, it wouldn't!

On a side note, have any of you noticed that the prices of top rated players, as a whole, are declining fast?

I can't get over how many 100 rated players are available at Diamond Prices.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is being said is the reason about all of this in discord, or in the forum boards?

Since there are currently very few tournaments in which a 100 rated player can play in, I wonder if this is the big cause for the decline of the prices.

Or maybe the guys are not hoarding their cards as much, which is increasing the supply side of things.

Thanks

Mundys Hold Lead in Tight OL S276 Race

Port Ruppert remained on top heading into the final month, but the race is at least six wide and the schedule of OL games will be a busy one. It is highly likely that the race goes late into the month, as the top contenders face off against each other in multiple series. With so many chances for the top six to bump each other down, there is also the chance that one of the teams further below can make a miracle run. Could be a barn burner.

The schedules for the top six:

TIR - 3 vs. HAW, 3 @ RRR, 3 vs. PRM
PRM - 3 vs. BMR, 3 @ TIR, 3 @ HAW
HAW - 3 @ TIR, 4 vs. EDA, 3 @ BMR, 3 vs. PRM, 3 vs, EDA
BVR - 4 @ NRM, 3 @ PRM, 3 vs. BPM, 3 vs. HAW
BPM - 4 vs. SLD, 3 @ BVM, 3 vs. SLD
SLD - 4 @ BPM, 3 @ ASK, 3 @ NRD, 3 vs. ASK, 3 @ BPM, 3 vs. ASK

Gold league update:

Three games left to determine if Krikkit has an undefeated OL season, or can Waffletown play spoiler and steal a game. Either way, Krikkit will take home the OL crown with an impressive year.

Overall, it's been a struggle for OL teams this year. Brigadoon is within striking distance of a wild card spot (1.5 games back), and Weston Pointe is 7.5 games back; but the rest of us are pretty well in the spoiler seat for the final month.

Stone League:

With all OL games complete, Vlora stands as OL St139 champs. Daytona Beach, which held the lead early, were swept by the White Stallions in their last three OL series, losing 10 straight games to Vlora.

Vlora will be the lone OL representative in the Stone playoffs, while the other three teams return to Stone next season.

Bronze League

So, here's a question...has a .500 OL team ever been crowned champion? I don't mean a .500 overall. K-Town finished 6-6 in OL B272, but because Transylvania only played six OL games, the Rock Piles finished on top.

Both Blitzkrieg and Death Valley will represent OL in the playoffs, with K-Town, barring a late surge, finishing just outside a playoff spot.

Port Ruppert Runs the Table to Seal Silver Crown

The Mundys closed out their OL S276 schedule on a 9-game victory streak to post a comfortable winning margin in a busy month.

In PT play, OL teams grabbed a lion's share of the playoff spots.
