Something up with zone ratings?

Was there a change on how zone rating is calculated? I know that players have up and down years but this is dramatic. Never below 22.5, averaging 34 a year, and then nosediving to -4.1

It is always low during the season because every team uses really high rated defenders. Past seasons get normalized compared to "average" defense

Makes sense now...I always thought I was just not paying close enough attention when my player had past seasons of 40+ ZR.
