Creating New Game with Mixed Fictional and Historical Players

I would like to create a league using the pre-2021 MLB/MiLB league/team paradigm, where approximately 90% of players are fictional and the remaining players are random historical players from all eras. How might I set up such a league?

Off of the top of my head.
1. Manually set up the fictional league with however you want the minor leagues. i believe it's on option in the setup screen but i thought minor leagues would be 2021.

Save as template

2. Go back into setup and create a historical random debut. Add MLB template to league. go into Historical and set schedule to 0 games.disable playoffs.

3. go into Commish Mode and delete any players from the historical league you want, they will show up later on again. Release remaining FA and either run a FA draft each year or let teams sign players manually.

There's probably an easier way and most of OOTP odd setups are trial and error. Back up league often. Each offseason the RD should bring in enough players based on how many rounds you want. You could let the RD ML teams draft the players then just release all each off season.

Another possible way but i have never tried this is to create a RD league separate from the MLB league. You should be able to export the rosters from the RD into the MLB but as i said i have never tied this.
