Modern MLB using historical players

I accidentally posted this to the OOTP Go! forum. Reposting here, the appropriate place:

I need some advice and a walkthrough. I'd like to set up a single player game set in the modern MLB era that uses the historical and current players -- DeGrom vs. Ruth kind of thing. I want all the players loaded, then I want to have a draft in which all are eligible. Oh, and I want first draft choice.

Please provide step-by-step instructions, 'cause I'm kind thick!

The player pool may be too large to pull this off in-game. If that's the case, please include how to select players from specific eras. Alternately, I'd like to selectively add some Hall of Famers from throughout history to the current MLB player pool, then hold my draft. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

just select "start historical game", then select 'modern times' from the drop-down, and choose a year from 2005+ that you want your financials/stats/etc based...

on the right side, check off "use random players from all eras", which will bring up another set of boxes where you can set a min-max range of years (I always leave those with no min/no max; so it pulls in players from any year...

the rest of the settings you can pick as you like, and get rolling.

just set up a random league like that and here's a screenshot of the top players... fun mix of George Brett, Rogers Hornsby, Mike Trout, Andy Pettitte, King Kelly and Rob Dibble to name a few

You can also import select historical teams then delete them so the historical players are put in the free agent pool.
