Low device memory high risk of crashing if continuing 3D game

Hi guys,

Since I've downloaded the new patch every game I've tried to play has displayed this message and then just shuts down.

I've been playing this game for months and never seen it until downloading the new patch. I'm playing on a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This was added during the last patch to help protect people from low RAM crashes, but it will only pop up if the device warns us that it's running low on memory. It won't usually kick you from the 3d every time you load into the game, just the first time, so please try to load into it again and see if it works.
However I am curious why your device is complaining about low memory, perhaps there is some strict memory management by these Galaxy phones -- I'll take a look into this

Thanks Will, appreciate the response and you looking into it. It does generally let me back into the match engine, however there has been more than one occasion where I just couldn't progress the game at all without seeing that warning.

In the mean time is there something I can do to stop that message from popping up? The game could not have been running any more smoothly on my phone before, but even if I re-enter the match after that warning message, it's just not quite right, if that makes sense... the movements are jagged at times, the pitcher will sometimes go into fast forward in his delivery, I even got a message asking if I wanted to send the runner home from 3rd on an infield pop up.

I think I'll add a setting in the general settings to manually turn it off in the next patch. I didn't expect higher end devices to throw these errors this much when I added the protection. My hunch is that the device you are on is just really strict with how much memory it allocates to each app, but I'd have to read up a bit more on it to be sure.
So, while waiting for the patch, I think the best way to avoid it is to try to shut down as many things in the background as possible. Really anything that takes up memory; like Bluetooth, other apps that may run in the background, etc.
I really hope that helps!

Out of curiosity what kind of apps tend to run in the background.

It's hard to say. I think often things like email, and messager apps can run in the background.

Just wanted to say I have the same phone and the same message keeps popping up. It seems if you restart your phone, it's fine. I've also continued back into the game after the message and actually had the game crash. Not sure what the issue is

Ah this is actually a very good point. Restarting will definitely help because it'll clear up all memory and states of the device.
The game crash you experienced afterwards could be a different issue or it could be that it warned only once before it crashed.

Just wanted to update and say it's getting worse. I've restarted and that doesn't help anymore. The game continuously tells me the message and will boot me out all the time if I ignore it. Not sure how to correct this issue when I've already lowered the 3D settings

There will be an option in the general settings to disregard the memory warning in the next patch (I'm aiming for sometime next week).
It's likely that if you had never experienced a crash during 3D, that your game has been running at the edge of the memory limit.
So in your case it would probably be fine to turn off the warnings. However for others, I wouldn't generally recommend using this new setting to turn it off, because this was put in as a failsafe to avoid out of memory crashes.

How is that new patch coming along Will? That warning is getting worse and even shutting everything down has no effect at all. Even when I go back into the game after the warning it's all over the place, one guy had 7 at bats in a normal 9 innings game when others only had 4, then got injured for the season, amongst other weird things that happen. It's basically unplayable at the moment unfortunately!

Although I would recommend giving it one last try on the new patch before fully disabling it, because I made some changes to it as well that should also help.

Getting this on Samsung Galaxy tablet

A couple of weeks ago I did an update on my Samsung Galaxy tablet and now I get this low memory/3D warning every time I play. My OOTP GO version is 22.10.79 Build 57 (64 Bit) (Android). I played the game for months, completing more than three full seasons in one-pitch mode (franchise, fictional league), with never a warning or crash prior to the update. I don't know if the update included patching OOTP GO but I suspect that was the case.

One question: What exactly is the "3D"? I found some settings under Main/OOTP GO Settings but there is no explanation of what 3D is and no option to disable it. I notice that sometimes the camera view switches to a ground level close-up with large, 3D players, which never happened prior to the update. That does nothing for my enjoyment of the game and I'd be quite happy without it. I actually find the camera switching in general confusing and would prefer the camera not jump from one view to another.

Love the game -- hope this bug doesn't kill it for me!

If you had been able to play without any memory issues or crashes, then I'd say you'd probably be safe turning off the prompt (it's in the general settings).

3D refers to the in-game stuff (like the players, ballparks, etc.)

You should be able to turn off the camera switching in the settings that pop up in pre-game setup. Let me know if it doesn't work and I can take a look

I find nothing in the pre-game about camera switching. (Edit follows.)

Oh I see, there was an entire section on camera options off the screen. I didn't notice the scroll bar before. I assume "Allow Dynamic Action Cameras" is the switching option. I'll try turning that off.

I reported the same issue with an iPhone 13 Mini. One thing I do is frequently save game as I’m setting up the season. I’ve had previous crashes that erased the entire game setup.
