As long as there are no extra innings then double headers should be banned. No make ups of rain outs if they require a double header. Now with every team playing every other team there won't be as many chances for make up games.

Those who voted for a tie after 12, please explain. Is this a matter of not liking ties but after a while just accepting what you don't like?

Its a decent compromise between teams ending up with 20 ties in the season, and causing strangeness with standings, and not having ties and seeing games go like 25 innings occasionally, which while it might be entertaining in real life is a bit annoying to me in OOTP.

Nobody wants to spend 300 dollars for a family of 4 to watch a tie. And I want OOTP to reflect real life. Ties are perfectly fine in spring training games though.

Nobody wants to tell their kids they have to leave with the score tied so this kids can get enough sleep to go to school or church in the morning. People see ties in hockey all the time. They'll get used to it.

No tie for me... Even as a hockey fan I hate them... a game should end only when someone win it with no gimick the same way it was played, so with 5 players on the ice and no dumb player show off competition.

I’d be more apt to use them in fictional international leagues if they were set up on the point system for the standings. 3pts for a win, 1pt for a tie, 0 for a loss.

My kids know it's a simple policy: we don't leave until the game is over, period. That was true when they were little, and it's true now that they are adults with kids of their own. Sleep and school are a distant second to baseball. Life lessons.

But I am all in for nine-inning ties in Spring Training. Just not during the regular season, and no gimmicks like ghost runners in extra innings.

I agree with you on not having gimmicks to break ties. However I'm not interested at all in breaking ties.

I think the Manfred Runner is one of the best innovations to baseball in the last several decades.

Not directed at anyone in particular but there is no integrity of the game or fairness of the game or dignity of the game or any similar argument to be made here. We have partial games with a winner declared, partial games without a winner declared, forfeits due to fans on the field, seven inning games in double headers, rained out games that are not rescheduled, and probably some other stuff I haven't thought of. So let's just take the ties after nine and be done with it.

Ties are fine in regular season play imo. I would prefer baseball implements a 9 inning tie rule.

Ending a game in a tie than why even play the game? No Ties... ever! |

Also depends on what you value a tie at, in the standings. Is it half a win? A third of a win? A fifth of a win? Are they ignored completely and teams seeded on W-L% instead? |

Have a win be worth 3 points, a tie be worth 1 point and a loss be worth 0 points.

The value of a tie is half a win. Nothing else.

Infractions: 0/2 (4) | What's wrong with ties in the playoffs? Can't be any complaint about it messing up the playoff schedule. Nobody knows how long a series is going to last anyway. But ties mean an extra game. Manfred will love the extra ticket and concession money. The big playoff proponents will get to see their 86 win team with Cinderella fantasies survive an extra day against a team that might actually deserve to be in the post season. Everyone, fans and players, will get to bed at a decent hour and be in top shape for the next day's game. |
