As I understand it, tanking involves more than losing to get to a lower level. Once you're there, you KEEP losing but pile up lots of points through player performance. Imagine having a Stone Level team with three great players. Your starting pitcher tosses lots of shutouts, maybe a no-no here and there, plus In Control, Putting Up Zeros, Going Streaking, etc. Your star hitter keeps getting Hit Machine, XBH Machine, Going Streaking, etc. This would be extremely valuable if he also steals lots of bases since the Running rewards for stealing four or five bases in a game are quite good (getting on base a lot more often makes that easier to achieve, especially if the Steal slider is maxed out). I think about this every time I see a Perfect card selling for 5-10x its value in the Card Shop. Have to wonder if it's been parked there in order to make the team's roster look weaker than it really is. |

And that was basically my point about the tanking - the method you described (which I would never personally use, btw, I want to win a PL championship so tanking has never come into play for me) is far more efficient compared to any tanking that could occur for the Championship card rewards if they had them. And you couldn't do both (tank in the low divisions for massive points while winning the championship rewards in the higher leagues). | |
