Lucky Clover are Champs
The Michigan Town Ball League, composed of 8 upper peninsula and 8 lower peninsula teams, concluded its 4th season and the U.P. League made it four championships in a row. The league doesn't have a draft, trading, or free agency. At the conclusion of the Town Ball Championship game, the teams acquire one or two new players from the Michigan High School feeder league or the free agent pool. Usually the bottom feeders will get a little higher quality player to help keep some parity in the Town Ball League.
The Drummond Island Lucky Clover took out Zing's Z's in spite of being the WC entry from the UP. The Lucky Clover found a way to rebound from 0-3 deficit to the best record team, Paradise White Pines (36-18), before taking out the Zing's in an exciting 7 game set. For the Lucky Clover it was their second post season appearance but the second year in a row they finished with a 31-23 record. Solid Starting Pitching from all 3 SP's and the devastating offense of Andrew Jenkins (.871 OPS) helped the cause for the Lucky Clover.

Exciting new talent
Players range anywhere from 16 to 42. The town ball players are not paid. They live in the community and either work or attend school. All the games are Friday night through Sunday afternoon.
Here are three new comers to the season that kicks off today. One is a senior high school player and the other two transplants are young men who found employment in their respective cities. As you can see the Town Ball League even has a player from France, and a highly regarded one at that. These players hold the promise of evolving into cornerstones for their teams. Traverse City fans are already clamoring for Jon Cordero to play all 9 positions in a single game. I have an inkling it might just happen.

Please tell me the Paradise team features an extra nosey catcher named Alex McKnight.
