Adding Minor Leagues - Manual Question
Hi all,
I am looking to add additional minor leagues to a long-running save. I started it on an older machine with limited storage and was trying to keep my save file size smaller at the time so went with AAA and Rookie League only, and now would like to add the rest of the levels. In the manual entry for Adding Minor Leagues, this warning is present: "Warning! If you add minor leagues and subsequently change the fundamental structure of the parent league, all team affiliations will be lost, and you will have to manually reassign the affiliations." This warning is kind of vague so I want to make sure I'm not messing up my league or making more work for myself. What does "fundamental structure" mean? Adding/removing teams, changing the number of teams, etc. This save is a pro/rel universe so the fundamental structure of my parent league(s) technically changes every single season. Is there a time period where that warning is applicable? Current day/week/year, current season, etc? |

I'm not sure what it means, but best advice for this situation is to make a backup of your game and then check it out, see what happens

Maybe this is leftover language from a prior edition? Yes, obviously you'll have to manually correct affiliations if you add/delete teams in your major league. I think that's really just a reminder that it's much easier to have your major league set up the way you want it rather than adding all minors first and then having to go back and fix all the minor teams one by one.
I'm thinking it's kind of outdated because nowadays the game remembers affiliations even if you move teams around, even if they don't show up on the teams screen. For example, posters have used one minor league for multiple major leagues in a promotion/relegation setup and they work fine. And yes, backup first! You may also end up with illegal roster errors once you start your seasons, but you can either use ghost players or generate filler players as needed. Almost all of them will be terrible and never get out of the minors so you'll never see them.
