profit goal from team owner not being met

The new team owner provided a goal of making a 25,000,000 profit this year and a team budget of 190,000,000. I moved a few contracts and now have a team payroll which is far below that amount. When I go back to the owner goals throughout the season, I find that the new team payroll amount seems to not affect the profit goal. Am I missing something on this, as I thought that one should reflect upon the other.

Don't knock yourself out over this. It is not you, it is the fact Owner Goals and Team Financials don't work--and never really have.

Without seeing a screen shot, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong with your profit issue, however the basis for the problem is that OOTP doesn't use an actual income statement as folks like me (meaning those with decades of accounting and finance experience) expect. One of the most egregious errors is likely the source of your issue. If you look at the financials in the game, CASH is added tp, or subtracted from, the income statement (somewhere). This is ridiculous, Cash is not an income statement line item in any legitimate accounting system.

Changes in cash are the RESULT of income statements, simply put.

That said, the other reason for the problem is that the game does NOT properly project the income statement. With any luck (and I can't remember if this true) at year end the game MIGHT retroactively show you met the goal.

In any event, these are two of the hundreds of little reasons that I don't use Owner Goals and feel no compunctions about editing the financial statements to reflect what truly happened.

Thank you, I figured there was something off with the system, as it does not make any sense, as you said.

I usually enjoy playing with the goals set on, but with goofy issues like this arising, I may do like you and just turn them off.
