In addition: 1930: NeL in OOTP has 7 teams that import with players. Nashville Elite Giants could be added (or may be in the game with no players (like 1920 Havana CS West); there are enough players in the db... 1939: Nel in OOTP has 15 teams. Atlanta Black Crackers and/or Jacksonville Red Caps could be added... 1940: 13 teams... Can add/update Jacksonville... 1946: 13 teams... Can add/update Homestead Grays... I think these teams are fine (other than missing city & so forth) if you are starting in a prior year. But if you start in, say, 1939, Atlanta & Jacksonville won't import with players... At least that my recollection from testing this stuff awhile back... |

When starting a league in 1920 with NeL on, the blank team is not populated with players on the Havana Cuban Stars West. It appears to be populated with more players from the 1920 New York Lincoln Giants. So although, when in the league and teams window within the league settings menu the blank team has an abbreviation of HaCu, I think the team is supposed to be the Lincoln Giants. Most of the 1920 players that played for the Cuban Stars West team are playing on the "visible" Cuban Stars West team. That being said, OOTP 24, only had 9 teams in their 1920 setup, not 10. The 9 teams being Chi American Giants, Chi Giants, Hav Cuban Stars West, Dayton Marcos, Detroit Stars, Ind ABCs, KC Monarchs, NY Bacharach Giants and Stl Giants. OOTP 25 has all the same teams but the added blank team. So I don't think developers intended for a 10th team.
But if they want to have ten 1920 teams I'm all good with that, the more the merrier. PS: funny note, when playing out the 1920 NeL season, the blank team went a wretched 17 and 95. I guess that's what happens when no one cares to give you a name. Quote:

The extra team(s) will be fixed in today's patch. Plus we adjusted NeL players again, the pitchers we brought down a little since they were overpowered (they're still very good even now), but we boosted hitters more.

When I get a chance, I'll check other years that have those blank teams and report back... FYI, I'm not sure what version of the game I was on when the league was created, but I'm pretty sure I created it on 4/1/24, well after the intended patch was supposed to be included. (I know that I'm on the current version - 25.2 (53) now.) |

I just started 1930 and I don't get a blank team... but I also only get 7 teams, no Nashville Elite Giants.

Interesting. I wonder what the difference could be. I'll note that I have all my saved games (everything under OOTP25\data) go to my D drive rather than the default C location. I wouldn't think that would make a difference but perhaps it keeps certain files from updating... I dunno...

That said, I checked some files for my game. Certain files that reside in my D are not as current as those on my C. Some of these files wouldn't, based on my judgement, involve the issue here. But the default.wtp file in the data\world_template folder is dated 3/28/24 on my C drive, whereas that file on D drive is dated 2/29/24. I'm not clear on what that file is/does, but maybe that explains it... |

OK, I think I've figured it out. It must be the world_default.xml file (in the OOTP25\data\database folder) that controls this. In my case, the file on my D was dated 2-29-24, but the current file is dated 3-23-24... To be clear, there were several other files I found on D that were older then some on C. So it's possible it was some other file. But I doubt it...
The other things that this whole issue has exposed to me is that if you specify (via File > Settings > Expert, Custom Data Path) a custom path for your data files, your files will, apparently, not get updated by OOTP updates & so forth. That is, IMO, a mixed bag. OOH, my custom files won't get overwritten / I won't have to remember to check them to make sure. OTOH, my non-custom files won't get updated when I might typically want them to be updated. So I guess it's kinda zero-sum...
