I feel like I've posted about this issue (or something similar) before, but I consider this a pretty major bug. I was acting as the manager for a team and in the process of making several defensive substitutions between innings of a spring training game. I removed the defensive positions from all the players I was replacing, and I dragged a player into a lineup position. I had not yet selected a position for that player (i.e., his position was still "-" on the screen) when I decided I wanted to insert someone different. After doing so, I saw that the player I'd decided against inserting was no longer available in the game. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I checked the box score, and the player is listed there with no position. I'm hoping that at the very least a flag can be set so that a player is not officially in the game until he takes the field at a position, but honestly lineup changes should not be permanent until the player exits the substitution screen.

To be honest I don't understand why any change become official before we hit "return to game"...

Agreed. I just remembered what the other issue I previously reported was -- not sure when I reported it, but it was definitely a previous version. It was also about defensive replacements, more specifically that I brought in a player to play CF, but he was replacing (I think) the RF with the previous CF moving to right. My issue was that the replacement CF showed up with a game played in RF despite only having the RF label while I was on the substitution screen. I was basically told that it wasn't going to get fixed, so ever since then I've been clearing the positions of everyone being affected before bringing in any replacements and THEN setting their new positions (hence the situation above, but this time the player gets an entire phantom game played without ever actually playing). |

Even more annoying... sometimes I go too fast and set the "-" at the wrong position and correct it immediately before going back to the game. This is an example with my team... I put him by error at first base in 1969 but correct this immediately and select the "P". It was fine in the game but he got a 0 inning played in his fielding history... which obviously make no sense since he never played at this position in the game as it was corrected before going back in the game.
As I said not a big deal but that doesn't make sense that this result in a line in the player's fielding stats. Sorry for the off-topic but since it's another weird thing related to the same screen I took the liberty to mention it...
