Minor Leaguers DFA
For some reason I’ve been having issues with minor leaguers randomly being sent into my DFA tab. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes. There are at least a couple of other posts about this issue.

To avoid having the minors players on the DFA list so much in the first place, you'll want to allow the AI to control both minor league promotions demotions and minor league signings/releases.
It's when the minor league promotions demotions is set to AI and minor league signings/releases is set to the human player that you'll get the players on DFA often. We'll have some tweaks/fixes for that as well in the patch.

Well I spoke too soon about this issue being gone after new patch. On May 11th of the next season I am hit with 7 players who are out of time in DFA. One difference I can see this time is that all of these players were generating stats in lower level minors. I went to the teams and looked to see if I could tell why they may have been DFA'd. I have no clue. There were other players with worse ratings both current and potential that could have been chosen. 2.5 to 3 star players DFA'd when you have 1.5 star players on the same team the AI chose to keep. I am gonna release weaker players and place those players back on the roster to see what happens. Before the patch the AI would just DFA them again.

I thought the problem was gone after the new patch. I played the last half of 2028 and up until May of the following season and I had no players DFA'd or released at all. May 11 of 2029 that changed. I had 7 players that were out of time in DFA that I had not DFA'd. 4 of those players were rated better than other players on the ML team they were DFA'd from. I went in and manually released players that I would prefer to lose, around 20 in all. I placed the 4 I wanted to keep back on the team they were originally on. I then released the 3 remaining players in DFA and simmed on. I didn't remember to check my Major League team roster but I should have because at the same time I released the 3 players it also released my starting catcher, first baseman, and second baseman from my ML team. I simmed 11 days before stopping because I had a player whose rehab time was up. When I went to place him back on the ML roster I noticed that the 3 players were gone from my team.

Trying to figure out parameters when strange things happen. When I hit June 1 I had 31 players who were out of time in DFA. First thing I did was go to my Rookie League teams and release a bunch of poorly rated players because each team had 43 players. I released more from my other ML levels. I then took all the players that were in DFA and placed them back on rosters. I then looked at my transaction log to see if there was any craziness so far. There was. The last player I had sent to the minors when I activated a player from rehab was released as well. He was not in the players on the DFA list. This is a strange issue.

31 more players out of time in DFA on July 1st. This is ridiculous. I understand you said there were some purposeful changes made here. Seems to me they have created more problems than they solved. It looks like I'm gonna go back to playing historical until the next patch comes out. I may just start a new game and see if I run into the same problems I have with this one before I do that.

What are your full minor league control settings?
Can you upload your league files: https://support.ootpdevelopments.com...p-developments We would be interested in seeing what might be happening in your setup, if there is something else going on there. |

I started a new game and thought maybe the problem was with my other game because I played a whole season and a couple of weeks of the next one with no DFA issue. I got a message saying that some player was too old for the league he was in. I thought it was strange because I have never ever seen that message before. I went to manager settings and saw that I had myself in charge of minor league promotions/demotions. I don't want to deal with that and never have before (I just missed that setting in the original setup) so I changed it to AI control and BOOM 13 players out of time in DFA. That is where the problem is.
edit: Other problem tied to this DFA issue reared its head as well. I placed the players I wanted to keep back on a roster or traded them. I released 8 of the 13. When I released those 8 it also released my staring major league first baseman. Last edited by rwd59; 03-29-2025 at 02:02 PM. |

I'm not sure its related. Because mine is part of a custom structure + expansion draft.
But when I take control of the newly expanded franchise, without do not disturb, and with full control of everything, EVERY SINGLE DAY i get mail saying "these players have been lost - signed your GM" (I am the friggen GM) and every single one of my 26 man roster is DFAd. I move them all back to active roster. Click "finish today / sim today" and they're all DFAd again. Every. Day. Every single time. I have restarted this league 3 times with the same results. I shared screenshots and my league files per request without response.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time on this league config and it is unplayable.

Lukas has the ftp site for uploading zipped .lg files in his signature block, I'd zip it and post it. They are surely working on a patch and if they have two zips with the issue maybe it's enough to isolate and fix it.
