The first game of a double header was a roller coaster as Brooklyn came back from being down by seven - including an Art Fletcher Grand Slam - only for the Braves to walk off in the 9th, taking an 8-7 win.

The game was scoreless until the 8th, when Boston managed to score two. Then, in the top of the 9th, Brooklyn sent eleven batters to the plate, scoring six of them, in order to grab the 6-2 victory.

Jim Delahanty went 4 for 5, driving in a pair.

Brooklyn led the whole way only for the Phillies to score four in the 8th and beat them, 6-5.

Milt Stock homered in his first plate appearance after returning for the minors.
