Watching an NHL playthrough (100% AI)

There have been an inordinate amount of 1st round picks traded (just got to the deadline)

1/17 - Wild trade 2026 1st rounder to NYI for Tony DeAngelo

2/7 - Devils trade Quinn Hughes and 1st round pick (originally from VCR) to Canucks for Jack Hughes & 2nd round pick (originally owned by NJ)

2/14 - Devils trade their own 2026 1st rounder to Nashville for Cole Smith

2/27 - Tampa trades its 2026 1st rounder to Anaheim for Frankie Vatrano

2/28 - Utah sends its 2026 1st rounder to Anaheim for Ross Johnston

3/3 - LA sends its 2026 1st rounder to Columbus for Zach Aston-Reese

3/7 - NJ Trades VCR's 1st round pick to Ottawa for Drake Batherson

3/7 - Washington sends 1st rounder to Pittsburgh for Malkin

3/7 - Islanders send Droiun to Calgary for Calgary's #1 (Isles have 4 1sts now)

3/7 - Carolina sends Dallas's 1st rounder to Winnipeg for Morgan Barron

Not sure what's causing this, unless the late adjustments I made to the frequency of trading for picks threw something off. That only should've affected the offseason, though. Looking into it.

Edit: yeah, I think I see what's going on, a revision from last week looks like the culprit. I've sent a new version of the trade frequency controls in, hopefully we can get that in the hotfix.

It's worth noting that teams that have a balanced outlook or more are mostly the ones trading picks, which is realistic. Teams that expect to make the playoffs and or make a run for the Cup typically don't keep their draft picks.

Yep! In my test game, the Maroons trade their 1st pick three times in the same day for three different players. Only one team get the 1st pick. I don't like the Maroons, they always cheat.
