Injured players and salary cap
It appears that players on the injured reserve are still counted against the salary cap. I ran into problems when I had five high-salary players injured for four weeks each and ran out of cap space to call up replacements. I'm not sure what the actual NHL rule is but I believe teams should be permitted to exceed the cap by the salary of the players on IR.

OK, so the issue is more the number of three and four week injuries (and some bad luck with their timing). I'll keep an eye on it when I get a longer injury.
