Coaching Sliders?

Hey,

I'm toying with the idea of trying to set sliders that best reflect coaching style (sabermetric, conventional, unorthodox, etc). Specifically I want to try and tailor a sabermetric strategy for the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.

I don't know if this even matters that much but it's just another area of the game that I want to learn more about.

I've searched a ton and I can't find anything approaching about hints/advice on how to set up strategy geared towards someone who has never doe it before.

turn comissioner mode on and go into the coach's profile, then editor... move sliders as much as you want.

as far as what is sabermetric vs whatever.. you'll have to look that up yourself. i certainly wouldn't take someone's word for it in a forum beyond the basics. there's more argument than consensus when push comes to shove, lol.

i always control my coach's sliders. if you don't want ot edit them, i'd even say in many situations the coach's strategies will be a bigger difference than his ratings when comparing 2 coaches... it's definitely a major effect on how the games get played out. i would recommend paying attention to it for sure. what's "best" depends on your league STats and AI settings in many ways.

I guess that makes sense. I'll just have to play around with what I want I guess and see how it play's out

Do you have any resources you'd recommend to read about different coaching types by chance? I'm sure I can google some but if someone like yourself, who obviously knows their stuff and has helped me on many occasions, has any preferences I would be eternally grateful.

Finally, although this is kinda related to the overarching "best" sliders question, but how on earth do you determine the defensive strategy/substitution strategy sliders? This is so foreign to me I have absolutely 0 idea on how to even begin. The offensive strategies I think I have an idea on how to play around with that and how it'll affect everything, but the others??? I'm clueless.

i may regurgitate stuff that relates or close to the right hting, but google is way better than me.

i don't study this stuff. i don't care about labels whatsoever. i care about what works no matter what it's called - conventional or sabermetric or mr. poopey pants theory. as long as it's rational and logical i will put some weight behind it.

if the methodology of their research has integrity and respectable, i will assimilate that knowledge. it's never about what "I" like or prefer. even if i use that as a starting off point.. the moment i recognize that i am wrong, i change.

most importantly, so much depends on league environment. how does your league differe from RL data? that needs to be considered when applying any concept from RL based on data mining... because the results are different and all the %'s are different.. but if in the same ballpark still useful.
