Wha

I'm hoping that I posted this in the correct area....

I'm looking to start a league to "compete" with the MLB, a lot like the WHA did with the NHL. I'm looking to create a league that has both custom and current players, but also have the MLB and other major leagues playing as well. Hopefully I explained this well enough, and I appreciate all help in advance.

you have a ton of options available to do it...

where oyu want the real playrs, historical players etc etc. check out online manula, make a few test leagues and play around. best way.

a 2nd ~mlb-quality league with the right rules will sign real mlb players from another league etc. over time if one is fictional daft and one is real players, they will mingle according to $$$ and supply/demand forces.. or you coud have real players random debut in both etc.. babe ruth in 2025?

bit too open-ended to help you with specifics. you'll have to play around with the settings to know what is possible and what best matches what you intend to do. (not asking for the specifics, you can read the GUI too :P )

if you get stuck on a particular option, ask about that as you hit the snag. do check online manual too.

Once you create a MLB game you can add a league.

http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...d_custom_games

Somewhere in there are option to allow players to move (trade? and free agency) from one league to another and back.

You will also need to set the League Reputation to the same level as MLB. I think that is 10 but I am not 100%. Fill the league with fictional players and you should be good to go. If you want real player there right away you will have to do some manipulation. Move players or give the new league extra cash to outbid on free agents for a few years.

Good luck,

Thanks a ton. I tried playing around with it but didn't have any luck, but that's what brought me here to ask. I'll definitely be posting updates with logos, jerseys, etc. in the future!

before you customize that stuff, look into how to name the files. you can rename them afterward and still automate the process for the most part. when loading game there's a checkbox to 'check all logos' or 'reload' - similar words. if there are matching names/cities etc, you may have a couple to fix by hand. modify team colors button in team home->team settings. if they are located in the data/<directories> before you create a game, they will be used when they match city/nicknames used. try not to overwrite files. if you do, the originals are easy to get back, no fear. favor your's

if named properly, they'll be used when the appropriate city/nickname matches. i believe naming folder/directory for a city within the various data folders will have a similar effect. manual has specifics for the latter, and you can easily mimic existing file names without the manual's help.

was this real 2018 players? start with that as a base. then "add league" from available actions if not immediately visible on gui. league wizard may be a better idea... anyway, add the second league, then set teh basic league options. get into a game with 2 mlb level leagues, makea backup, then worry about the settings.

when frustrated work on teh customized logos etc or organize thoughts on divisions / playoffs / rules / anything to get organized. All my leagues start on a spreadsheet, but i'm a nerd. saves alot of time when you can re-use things.

The other benefit is a historical record of what you've done. there's so much to work with. it's easy to forget this portion or that portion at various moments in time. i don't have to remember my financial settings, and i can alter them and know what has changed from the previous baseline. even just general notes on how you got this particular concept to work in the end.
