Question Bug or the Way Salaries In Trades Work?

I am in a fictional AAA league and traded for a 31 year old on a two-year deal worth $348,000/yr. The trade was AI initiated and it was just for a young 22 year old pitching prospect; no money was involved.

The veteran arrives on my roster and suddenly he's on a $50k/yr deal (the minimum in this league) and is a free-agent at the end of the year. Is this expected?

I have no money for extensions so I thought I would have had him locked up for next season...

P.S. What does the number column represent? I haven't been able to figure that out.

Thanks.

I traded for another guy with two years on his contract and the same thing happened.

Is this related to the player having a team or player option (didn't check)? But I'm surprised the salaries drop to the league minimum.

2 different leagues? not just similar to AL v NL that is. (those are conferences within one leauge, really... as far as how it actually functions nowadays)

if 2 wholey separate leagues, that may be the cause.

an option like you said, maybe? i would think that would be handled the same way as normal with an email at the appropriate time of the decisions, but that's just a good guess. worth looking into for sure.

review any other financial rules.. maybe that's how reserve clause worked? forfeit and need new contract after a trade? i doubt that, but look for any setting that might be related.

Since it's happening each time, it's most like settings related and not a bug. i've never had this happen in modern rules-like leagues.

AAA vs MLB may be a reason too, as i am about to hit post. definiteyl some different rules regarding finances.

# is his jersey number, no worries.
