removing team option liability
I'm mid season and have a player with a $21M team option I'm not going to exercise. Is there a way to access the funds that are allocated for him for next year so I can use them to sign other player extensions?

Not in the middle of the season. You can go in commission mode to give contracts above budget if you must.

I'm in challenge mode which makes it difficult to navigate around problems. I would assume if I just released him that would free it up? He has been sitting on the bench in AAA for 2 years so wouldn't be missed.

He just retired and the money still isn't available. It doesn't show on the salary for next year but neither do I have the funds there for "money for extensions". Maybe I'm not understanding the money for extensions part or when it is available?
