Failure to get promoted?

So in the 2026 perfect team season my team finished 104-58 (second best record in the league) in the Iron League. Despite having the second best record, making the playoffs, and being designated for promotion I opened the game this morning to find I'm back in the Iron League.

Is this a bug?

Promotion is based on playoff success first, then regular season record as a tiebreaker for teams eliminated in the same round. What happened in the playoffs, and how many teams were promoted from Iron last season? If you were second-best in the league but behind another team in your division, and you lost in the Wild Card game, you would be 9th in line for promotion behind the 8 teams that made the Division Series. If there was a real error, someone at OOTP will likely need your username and team name to check.

Thanks. Sucks that promotion isn't actually based on W/L record over a whole season but rather the arbitrary results of one game.

Glad I searched the forum. before I asked essentially the same question. Thank you for the answer.


In my case, after 162 I finished tied for the division lead against a whale, 4th overall. Lost the one-game playoff for the division, and then proceeded to lose against an inferior second WC team that didn't waste their ace and pen on a 163rd game. So, it's Stone for a second time.


And sadly, it'll almost certainly be Stone for a 3rd season.


My team appears to be tied for 2nd overall with 3 players ABOVE gold-level, though all mine are diamond and others have a perfect or two. How many does the best team have? 21! — 18 diamond and 3 perfect, i.e. as many perfect cards as anyone else has diamonds-PLUS-perfects. And AGAIN, that whale is in my division. At least this season there won't be a pointless game 163 to weaken my team. Sigh.
