Missing Player Card

Hi. Any reason for my 90s player portrait cards to show up like this?

Here's a screenshot of my folder.

Were they displaying properly before? Have you modded any of the files recently? If so, I'd check the info.txt file and make sure it contains the following sections:

[Start of File]

ORDER:
1: facegen
2: 90s_card_top
3: 90s_card_teamcolor
4: 90s_card_background

[End of File]

YEARS:
start: 1990
end: 2019

If that's all good, try restoring the three .png files from a previous save and/or (hopefully) a backup. Good luck.

Created a historical game starting in 1993 and I'm not having any issues.

So pretty much was jumpSeat is saying.
Only reason I could think of would be that you changed something in before. Somebody in the Mods section had the exact same issue, no picture files displayed and that area just being transparent.

But that was caused by renaming files and not adjusting the info.txt file to that.

Hi.

I don't think the cards were ever displaying properly. The info.txt file is all good. I went into the sim/play game screen and the player cards were still missing. I recently added custom goal horns to all my quickstart games. I haven't tampered with anything in the graphics folder though. And what exactly do you mean by restoring the files?

Thanks for the quick replies!

I just meant you could try copying the graphics files, (say from the historical quickstart save), and paste them over top of the ones that are not displaying correctly in your 90's folder. Mind you, if they never displayed properly, this might not be the issue.

It does look like a problem with the image files - it's reading the card data correctly and putting logos, names, etc. in the right places on the card, but the background and other two images just aren't showing up. If copying the files out of the quickstart into the save doesn't work, you may need to try reinstalling (or verifying file integrity if you're on Steam.)

Interesting issue somehow lol

panthersfankel if you don't mind you could attach the 90s card folder of that save you're having the issue with.
I'd be curious if I would have the same issue when using it in that 1993 test save I created. And have a look if there's anything special noticable.

I'm attaching the one that's working for me, so you could try with that (if you haven't been able to find a fix in the meantime, of course).

Here you go. Tried it with the files you sent and it didn't change anything.

Tested with the files you attached and got no issues, everything's looking as it should. I'm on Windows 10, no-Steam version btw.

Seems obvious that it's not a problem with the picture files itselves, more like an issue how your game handles those files. I'd say that's something the devs (aka JeffR) would have to take a look at.

I think we're going to need to have a look at a trace file to see if anything's visibly wrong there. Go to the start screen, select Settings, then go to Troubleshooting and click on the "Enable Debug Trace" option. Then exit and restart the game, go back to that screen, and click on "Open Trace File". That'll open a file named fhm_trace.txt that'll list various information about your game installation. Copy and paste that into a post (or send it to me in a PM or email it to jeff@ootpdevelopments.com.)

Had a look at your trace file, and there's nothing visibly wrong there. Sebastian is going to have to add a little extra debugging code to see if the game can detect if (and hopefully how) the images aren't loading correctly, I'll be in touch about what we'll need you to do once that's ready, we'll have to do it in a special one-off test build.
