Question regarding Amateur Draft in historical sims

Hi all, I'm currently doing my first historical save with the 2005 Milwaukee Brewers and it is going pretty well thanks to the help I have received from reading all of your posts on these forums. The only thing I would like to fix is related to the amateur draft every year.

I'm playing with development on, no recalc, as the development engine and managing my minor league rosters is one of my favorite aspects of the game.

However, it seems as though the game is filling the draft classes with players who debuted in the major leagues that year, rather than players who were actually drafted and started playing minor league ball that year. I am hoping there is a setting that I missed or misunderstood while setting up my sim that I can change to remedy this, as these draftees are coming, for the most part, already fully developed. I'd like to be able to watch them develop in the minors and have the development engine take over. As it is now, my minor leagues are mostly full of fictional players or players that were already in the minors in 2005 when my sim started.

Just to be clear, I do not mind the fictional players. I put them there on purpose so that teams have enough guys to fill out their minor league teams. The only thing I feel I am missing is the ability to draft undeveloped players and see them develop through the minors, rather than drafting mostly fully developed guys who usually just go straight to the big league team.

It sounds to me like you may not have enabled real minors when you started the game. Is that the case?

Yes, it looks like you are correct. Totally overlooked that one. If I had real minors on that would help? if so, is that something I can just switch on in the middle of a save, or would it be best to start a new one?

Look to be honest I'm not 100% sure. I've not delved down that rabbit hole myself, although I plan to at some stage. One of the other lads on here should be able to confirm this but I think it needs to be on from the start.

I don't think you can add real life minors after starting a game. I'm pretty sure you will have to start a new one.

One suggestion I would make is if you do use real life minors, you might want to make it where fictional players don't make it to the majors.

The game will fill minor league rosters with fictional players and you risk ending up with Ballplayer Smith on a major league roster some time in your game if you don't.
