Trouble with 3D or FaceGen? See here!

OOTP utilizes some advanced OpenGL features now, which may be problematic on a small number of systems. So, in order to fix the problems we need your help.

But first, please make sure you install the latest version of drivers for your graphics card! Often outdated drivers are the reason for 3D / Facegen problems.

OOTP needs at least support for OpenGL 2.0. This is supported by most graphic cards with up-to-date drivers.

We suggest playing around with the OpenGL settings (Game Settings -> Facegen & 3D tab), you could try setting the "Open GL Shader Mode" to "Disable OpenGL shader" for example.

If you are on a Mac and the 3D display (in-game or opening PT packs) is only a quarter of the screen, please run the game in low DPI mode, see the second post here.

If it still does not work, we need to know your exact system specs which can be found in an OOTP debug log file if you can provide that for us. Please follow the directions here and post the resulting file for us to check over.

This is happening on both my high-end Ryzen laptop and my (now) low end HP tower computers. And it only happens to certain players on the Reds. No others that I've seen so far.

The type of computer or resolution won't matter. It's likely more an issue with the uniforms presenting in the game. No rhyme or reason as to which player it hits at a given time.

I have the 3D/facegen settings the same as 22, but am lacking features such as facial hair and glasses, both with the historical facegens from the pack (which looked fine in 22) and the facegens that came with the game in 23. Toggled with the detail and texture levels, to no avail. Again, settings such as the GammaLut I have the set the same as 22. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I'll post this example of a not-supposed-to-be-beardless Brandon Woodruff.

Thanks, read the think. (*Correction read the link) I guess Mac users just gotta live with it for now. I'm so happy with the new game in general tho, I can't complain.

Posted in the other thread, but last response was two days ago. I've had issues of uniforms not showing up at all. On Windows 10. Here's Ryan Pressly and Hector Neris, to name two.

The more I look at this, the more it seems to be a case of files not getting properly installed for some reason. If you're on steam, can you verify the local files for OOTP in the Steam client? Or on the standalone, go to settings>troubleshooting>force game data reinstallation and then start a new league and see if that fixes things.

Reinstalling doesn't produce results on a mac anyway, I tried. Facegens on a mac always came out slightly less detailed, but nothing like this. Here's a thread photo of Lansdowne's Reggie Jackson, pretty similar to how it appeared on my mac for OOTP 22, and here's how the same Reggie looks on 23. Lost his glasses while putting on lighter makeup, after shaving.

Looks like something with the face textures goes wrong. I will check this.

When did you experience it? After the start of a new game, or after some changes where made?
Does "Reset all home/away caps/jerseys textures" help from Game -> Game Settings -> Facegen

I just promoted a player from my AAA team to my MLB team, and noticed that his picture was messed up, like in the example above (missing cap/jersey).

Clicking "Regenerate same picture" in the player editor did not make a difference, but then I tried what you suggested here, and did a Reset of caps and jersey textures in Game Settings.

When I went back to the player, he hadn't changed, but this time, "Regenerate same picture" worked, and he returned to normal.

Perhaps the calling up could (and thus trying to change the jersey textures from the AAA team to the MLB one) have been the trigger here?

Hello, I am getting an error saying 3D features disables due to command line parameter "no3d". Has anyone had an issue like this before? The game crashes anytime I try to play in 3d mode and facegen is completely disabled

This can't quite be the reason as I'm having this same issue with players on my team from day one of a brand new save where nothing has happened yet. At all. Not a single promotion, demotion, or any roster moves.

When opening OOTP 23, team logos appear on their back shoulder of their jersey. If I go into the settings and reselect the jersey type to the same type of jersey (or a different one), the jersey relocates to the proper front side of their jersey. It stays correct through multiple games but when closing and restarting the game, the logo goes back to the back shoulder again. This issue happens for all of the teams.

Note that the league is entirely fictional with fictional logos that I manually added for all of the teams. Did not have this issue in 22 and have not made any changes to the logos between versions.

Can you please take a look at the jersey file on your disk for such a team after the logos moved to the back?
Are the files still 512x1024 pixels?
A picture of that file and of that texture in the team color dialog would be helpfull.

This is what I get when I started a standard MLB game. The issue does not appear in my fictional league save. It also effects the 3d game uniforms and the picture on the player bar. Not sure if this is a bug or something else. I forced an update of all MLB player pics but that did not fix the issue.







Validated my files but that did not fix the issue.
