Regarding removed league
I'm not sure where to put this, because I know there's been ENOUGH threads about this.. but this isn't me bashing the decision, arguing with the decison, etc I mean, I don't necessarily like it, but hey.. there's no use in complaining about something that's already done, wish it was different, but oh well
My thing is... what's gonna be the solution in future games, regarding the players? I can understand the players in that league who's never played in an MLB game or any other foreign league game not being in the game but what about American born players who've played in the MLB? or players who were born in other countries that have played in the MLB but now play in that league? or even Japanese players who have once played in the MLB(guys like Masahiro Tanaka) are they going to be totally removed from future versions? or will they be listed as free agents or even retired? I can understand some players not being able to be in the game but I really hope that guys who have once played in MLB if they are able to be put into the game, even if it's as free agents or retired.. I always loved signing guys and seeing how their 2nd or 3rd chance or more in the big leagues go.. There's a FEW players in that league(not counting younger Japanese players) that I would love to be able to have on my team, even as like a reclamation project. guys like Fernando Romero,Tyler Austin,Tanaka, etc I know these guys arent HUGE names(and in Tanaka's case not so much anymore) so it's not a DEAL breaker for the game, but I still hope somehow there's a way to add some of these players I know there's been many threads about this already, but I'm just really hoping there's some solution about some of these players in future versions of OOTP As a Yankee fan, I'd love to be able to bring Tanaka back to the Yankees to finish his career. The answer is, we don’t know. It looks like the big thing is that the holder of the rights is extremely litigious and that apparently in Japan statistical histories are considered part of a league’s copyrighted material (which is not the case in the US and there’s now definitive case law to back that up). My guess is that the South Africa method is where they’ll be at going forward but who knows, maybe even identical stats in a fake league in a different country is too close by their standards. The devs haven’t said anything because keeping your mouth shut is SOP when you’re being threatened with a lawsuit.

It sucks... but it's definitely understandable if that's the case, I honestly hope everything is worked out and we get the ability to have these players back in our league... It mainly sucks for this year, because we HAD it and then had it taking away from us. Next version, starting without those players will be easier, since we didn't begin with them in the first place. |

In today's world, the issue will likely always be "in flux" meaning each labor agreement, merger, sale of one entity to another, copyright law revisions; ALL of those could and likely will change the "rules" game companies and other will have to adjust to.
We live in a world of greed and profit, and in such a world, change is not only expected - but commonplace. Best for us to accept it and try and adjust to it. Last edited by HRBaker; 02-05-2023 at 11:49 AM. |

What part of "We cannot talk about that league in any capacity" do people not get?

for those stumbling in here
Markus announced this here. Sharing to save others coming back after a long winter's nap from wasting their time trying to figure out what's happened/ing.

The nice thing about running without Steam I guess is that I can freeze my version of the game to whatever version I like
