Maybe the game is taking a giant leap forward this year. Maybe that's part of the reason the developers have been pretty quiet.

I saw the trailer. It looks good. All the same, I honestly don't know if I'm going to get OOTP24. I'm not saying I'm never going to get it. I could change my mind a month from now or even sooner.

FWIW I have the utmost respect for the OOTP team and everything they do. I know that we don't always agree with the way things are done with the game or feel like certain things should be incorporated. That's all good. And I'm all up for an honest, rational, intelligent debate.

But this is the first time in 10 years that I really don't have the same enthusiasm and excitement for the latest OOTP game. Again, I'm not saying I couldn't change my mind and come back here and be like, "Hey! I'm so stoked for '24!"

Many of us work in business and we often encounter times when certain decisions are made in business we do not agree with, but we must accept. I'm not a lawyer nor do I work in the legal field, but I totally get why such laws and rules exist and that the last thing anyone wants is to be audited or get hit with a lawsuit.

So I'm not mad or upset when executive decisions are made going forward with regards to OOTP or any entity which results in the termination of certain services or perks we used to get. Comcast/Xfinity just recently announced that they're no longer going to offer Peacock for free this summer. Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I understand why they did it? Yes. I accepted it and moved on.

I cannot speak for anyone here other than myself, but I think the overall sentiment expressed here for the past couple of months vis a vis the disappointment over certain executive decisions stems from the fact that saved games which many people have worked on for the past year were allowed to be modified without their permission.

It's one thing to say, going forward with this new update, you will no longer be able to have access to the Beatles catalogue on Apple Music. It's another thing altogether when an update has all of the Beatles songs replaced with Beatles covers sung by karaoke singers. If you are a Beatles fan like I am and you get into your car for a long drive to visit family, then find out your entire Beatles collection has been replaced, you can understand why that person would not be a happy camper.

Now, would Apple (the Beatles company) have the right to tell Apple Music they no longer could use the music? Yes. Can you blame Apple Music for taking the Beatles music off their platform? No. But do the customers have a right to be disappointed? Yes. However, it's not the end of the world. If you have the physical media on CD or vinyl, you can still listen to your Beatles albums or any other band or artist's albums.

I think that most people would be more disappointed and are that saved files were modified after putting hours of due diligence in maintaining said records. It feels a bit intrusive almost like someone hacked into your account and had access to your personal files then deleted/added some without you knowing about it. And then you feel like an idiot for installing the update afterwards.

I want to like the new OOTP24 trailer and be giddy for the game's release. Just can't do it right now. Again, I could change my mind in the next week or two and be banging your ears about how I'm so excited and about to lose control, but I think I like it. Until then, to paraphrase Forrest Gump, that's all I've got to say about this.

I didn't even finish the whole trailer. I bailed once it got to the PT part. I play the game as a day to day field management simulator, and I didn't really see anything that showed that this part of the game really changed.

Yep, same here. V23 is working great for me and I will likely stick with it for a while. Maybe get v24 once it drops below $10 but as of now, doesn't seem like much that will impact me with how I play the game.

Just remember, no more sales means no more versions.

You pay for what is available, not what could potentially be available some day.

Meh, it’s also $36 for a couple hours at least of gameplay every year, maybe even a couple thousand for some of us. YMMV but to me it seems kind of low.

Been buying the game since it first started. If they didn't make any money you would have never seen the version you are playing today.

Support is important.

And you think that nothing has changed since you started playing? As a consumer, I believe that you get what you pay for. I'm not going to pay for a product that doesn't deliver something that is of interest to me on the thought that a corporate entity might take my money to eventually to give me something I'm interested in. Any computer is probably worth $10 or less if you can get an hour's entertainment out of it, but if I'm expected to pay full price for a yearly version then there'd better be something worthwhile in the update.

Agreed. Supporting a product year in and year out is a good way of supporting a company, and certainly it is unreasonable to express major leaps forward every year. At the same time, however, at least some of the full purchase price over the years with more minor updates is made with the expectation that it is an investment in long-term fundamental development the product, especially when it simulates a field that has evolved a great deal over the recent years. If that evolutionary jump is not forthcoming, fine- but in that case the argument for paying the same amount for yearly iterations that was paid for the initial purchase of the fundamental product itself is at least open to question. In any case, there is so much subjectivity involved in how anyone answers that question- and all that really matters is that one is satisfied with his decision and accepts that it will be the weight of these individual determinations taken collectively that is the voice of market demand (and, consequently, what is supplied).
