Angry post -- Hitting coach is contact oriented; why do I whiff 10 times per game
I am playing the 2024 season as the St. Louis Cardinals.
My hitting coach is "legendary" yet I have struck out 462 times in 46 games. He is a "contact" hitting coach, so wouldn't you think my team would do a better job. Just pissed after another week of games swinging and whiffing. |

My understanding of how those work is that he will have a better relationship and therefore more influence on your players who are considered to be contact hitters, as opposed to a power hitter or one who is patient and draws a lot of walks.

I like to get Neutral or Patience hitting coaches that could have good relationships with most of my hitters for my majors level.
For the minors, I get those more specialized in power, patience or contact, with outstanding/legendary influencing mechanics, hoping they would help increase the potential of some of my young hitters in the minors. I have had some insane success with this method in some of my saves. |

If your team is full of players with 40 or less ratings at "avoid k's", no hitting coach is going to prevent lots of k's. I'd take a look at your roster.
